No, the nut on the kingpin

Image

If it's too tight then it doesn't turn as much because the bushings are compressed.
If it's too loose then the board is hard to control.

I have built-in bearings with spacers on the inside of the wheel, and speed washers either side.

I can go hulk on the bolts in the wheels without affecting the roll.

Oh of course.

Interestingly though, he majority of the entries I read about tightening wheel bearings assumed tightening the wheel nuts altered the "drag" of the bearings.

I don’t know anything about skateboards, but if you have spacers between the inner races of your bearings then you can tighten the nut fully. The outer race still floats on the balls.
If you do this and the wheels feel tight then the outer bearing race has not seated into the wheels properly.

You numbskulls.

Cranked, for the love of spiders, I said bushings not bearings!

Listen to the mullet.

Huh! The mullet is saying exactly what I was saying.

I did confuse bushings and bearings so you and I were talking about different things as I was always talking about bearings not bushings. In fact it didn't even register with me that you typed "bushes" I just read it as bearings.

Especially as your the first sentence of your paragraph started talking about wheels, as did your second sentence, but that suddenly switched, mid sentence, to bushings. I failed to pick up the change of topic. I took the whole paragraph to be about the wheel bearings. Hence the confusion.

Here it is:

"Smooth, rolls very well. Still breaking in the wheels and figuring out the bushing looseness I can get away with."

Oh, and last excuse, bushings are sometimes called plain bearings, plain bushings, or sleeve bearings.

I thought skateboarding might be free from the obsessive wanking that seems to characterise bike culture.

I'm staying to understand how Cranked gets 'permission' to spend 6 months of the year in Indonesia.

Out of interest cranked, what did you think that boo would have been looking to achieve by loosening his wheels?

He'd probably recognise it as a longboard, fit for my purposes.
But if he did, he'd only have to tell me once for me to understand his argument.

I'm too old to be dropping into halfpipes or learning how to kickflip.
Even though with croissant gone I'm probably the youngest here.

Did you ever get one?
It sorts out any front leg technique issues pretty quickly.
got a couple of cheap ones from BigW ......which I replaced wheels and bearings on and work fine.

30 bucks each.
Those would be the skateboard shaped objects

Fcuk me!

When boo wrote:

I thought he was trying to get his skateboard to roll faster by loosening the wheel nuts which was completely daft.

I was politely trying to point that out to him.

Now in the light of that you can all go back and re-read what the fcuk I was saying.
