No! I barely could back in the day. I'm trying to work up to it but that injury's really holding me back. I think cruising might be more my goKunji wrote: ↑Sat Sep 29, 2018 5:16 pmCan you still drop in Ricky?RickyG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 29, 2018 12:38 pmJust took my son to his 2nd skate lesson, this time at Dulwich hill. Wow, what a set-up. I had a bad fall about a month ago where I landed on my tailbone. I've only just recovered and lost all my confidence![]()
Anyway, my boy's learning heaps and loving it, and it's a bit of much-needed quality time for us.
We're off to five dock next week apparently

Re: skateboarding ...
I have found that middle age skating is a world of pain.
I watched my son evolve from a 10 year old skate rat to now being a elder (at 21 lol) custodian of the Bondi bowl.
He was always a big fan of the five dock park. And he reckoned the Macquarie Fields one was brilliant
I tried to get him into surfing but once he could stand up in a shorey he lost interest
Keep it up Ricky!

TMSB. If your son has not yet been to the bowls at greenhills cronulla he’s missing out. Lights also. Probs the best in Sydney

Yeah, I tried with surfing too, and he was making good progress but it didn't grab him. My 6yo daughter might be up for it this summerThe Mighty Sunbird wrote: ↑Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:04 pmI have found that middle age skating is a world of pain.

Took my son to warehouse 11 in Artarmon this morning. Really impressive setup. Doesn’t appear kids skate anymore, my son was the only skater, probs 30 kids on scooters.

I wasn't aware of that. I might check it out. My son broke his wrist a couple of weeks ago on the board so he's out of action for 6 weeks - during school holidays and missing his first compchannels wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 11:02 pmTook my son to warehouse 11 in Artarmon this morning. Im a little overprotective in that i insist he wears wrist, knee and elbow pads plus the helmet when he is skating ramps. Constantly getting asked why the other kids mainly only wear helmets.RickyG wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 8:55 amI wasn't aware of that. I might check it out. If you go to that place, earplugs are helpful. Noise levels are off the charts.
Re: skateboarding ...
See now, this is why skateboarding will always be cooler than surfing for the youth.
Young surfers get old and keep surfing, thus losing any semblance of rebel edge or cool, whereas skateboarding at 40+ is a recipe for broken bones, busted kneecaps and a host of other injuries.*
Sk8 or Die!
(Die)
Of course there are exceptions- Hatchy.

Lol. I don’t skate much anymore. Haven’t given up but just don’t go that often. It was like every time we’d turn there’d be blood, broken bones, or concussion. Kinda off putting like you’re just wondering when your number is going to be up.
Carving fast lines around a skatebowl is great crossover training for surfing though

Speaking of all the hard charging frothing chicks surfing now, are there any females dumb enough to do this ridiculous male skating nonsense?

A friend of mine in the US runs a sports management company and her clients are mostly female pro skaters.

Links of a chick eating it? Girls just aren't as stupid as dudes.

No scars, no casts, no blood, no protruding bones. Yawn. Dudes would have tried some envelope pushing dumb shit till somebody got hurt.
Would have been more entertaining had they been wearing the swimwear cranky alluded to.
