Forever young ...... golden breed deck, chicago trucks, cadilac wheels, DY point car park with 200 other cruisers doin' bunny hops, 360's and tik taks .... no one chased us off the streets back then .... :)

I used to ride ramps but got sick of the injuries ... a couple of years back I bought a couple of skaties for my kids so I ride around a bit when we head out for a family bike ride and that , I've even get my dog to tow me along sometimes ...

my daughters bf is a sponsored skater .... seen him do some pretty amazing stuff ... saw him land a drop off the roof of a garage, about 10' and he is only a little bloke (with guts) , he rides pools and ramps and seems every second week he's taken off some more bark ...

You want stacks?

Some of them in this vid are as heavy as I've seen;

^^^ i remember some of those covers - classic
recently got back into skating (after a 15 yr break..) the kids at the local park refer to us older skaters as 'dogtowners' since our revisit to the sport has been no doubt been influenced by those movies..
its funny making friends with 10 year olds - its all about the trucks and bearings..
we didnt have skateparks when i was a kid, so the whole transition thing is new, and ive managed to get to a point where i can pump around the park ( no tricks ). (theres some great parks around now adays - maroubra beach a great example)

its great to have an alternative to surfing - especially when theres no waves. skaters dont get up early, so get there at 7 and the park is all yours.

riding a 33" by 10" deck 10" indys and 61mm wheels
also got myself a 'carvestik' for mellow hills - wicked fun!!

concrete hurts - i see kids fall and bounce back up and they're on the way again.. i've had simple falls that left me sore for weeks >> wear wristguards *at least* and give it a go..

I learnt to drop in on a halfy 2 weeks ago after a 10 year break. Made the drop and did the usual thing of putting too much weight on the tail. Board went flying out from under me and I came down hard. Fu(k it huuuurt!
Good vid 2nd Reef, but this one is just mental.

Before council skateparks and alike we had to rip-off timber from building sites and build our own ramps, hidden away from liitle ol'ladies ready to complain and chase us with their brollies .... this is one my mates and I built when we were about 15 ... note the rickety, bit by bit construction techniques, home made Dog Town copy deck and bare feet for extra grip .... wish I could still fit into those jeans .....

double post

VVV (lics post below)

I kid you not lic, I saw a guy this morning with exactly that  a piece of wood (4x1 I guess) and a pair of trucks which looked like roller skates with some cool looking wheels and a couple of pieces of sandpaper glued on the deck. And guess what - I was jealous ...

Man you guys are good. I remember my first skateboard involved buying a pair of roller skates. Cut one in half and bolt them on some dodgy bit of timber

However, we progressed :? to billycarts where the wheels were just old metal bearings. Noisy, fast and slippery. Man you went through some shoes.

Seemed like such an innocent toy
Got a skate at eight years old
He was the All-Australian boy
Now the story can be told

Beware he's possessed to skate!

Skating takes him up in height
He's a pilot on a modern flight
See him flying through the air

If he don't land then he don't care

When he skates-he skates
Cause he never hesitates
Cause he rips-he rips
Like a modern gladiator ain't got no fears
He's the wizard on the wheels
So skate

He shoots the pool like a launching pad
Skating is all that's on his mind

If it ain't insane then you can't get rad
He's skating radical all the time

Beware he's possessed to skate!

Six foot airiels inverts backside
Looks like a magic carpet ride

Optical illusion it must be
He redefines insanity

When he skates-he skates
Cause he never hesitates
Cause he rips-he rips
Like a modern gladiator ain't got no fears
He's the wizard on the wheels
So skate

Doesn't understand why you'd wanna walk
Ain't got time to sit and talk
Used to be just like you and me

Now he's an outcast of society
Beware he's possessed to skate!

And the skating's getting radical

Love the second last shot. He's seen the light :!: at the bottom of that bucket. Maybe just preparing to spew in or mount it.
