Post by booter » Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:06 pm

I'm from south of Sydney - how does the water temp on the goldy compare (in June)

Cheers

never been there in june... but i was there last sept/oct and i was surfing boardies at 6am.

The locals are out in their wetties but i suppose their standards would be different.

don't forget it still gets down as low as 16 in syd (i think?)

of course its not just the water temp that makes you cold, its the cold westerly winds at 6am that really get you. Doesn't help when there's like a 30minute lull either

after spending the last 16 years surfing all year from sydney down to pot holes down south - the move up to the goldie has been luxury if for one thing. the water ain't cold. the last week in the water has been the first week i'm out of the boardies and into the spring suit. I reckon i may not pull out the 2/3 steamer this year.

I'm on the goldie right now, have been all week and the water is 21+. Boardies no worries. Maybe a wettie top in the early. This however does not stop Goldie people from putting on steamers. Why would you if you didn't have to?
