Chicks, how big is yours?

Post by betty boop » Tue May 10, 2005 9:50 am

Girls, I was wondering what size boards you all ride.

I always found the boys suggestions about appropriate board size a little too small for me to catch anything at my kooky level. I am on the small side at 5'2" and 50 kg so i found getting it hard to get a good beginners board.

I've got a 6'10" ( by 3 1/4 by 21 1/2) nugget but am finally looking for a shorter one around 6'4".

I've tried the 7'6"minimal which was very stable but a bugger to turn and have of course mistakenly been on the much too small to start with 6'8" shortboard. My husband tells me that I just need to acquire more skill and stop spending his money on new boards.

Any good stories about board salesmen?

I ride longboards...9'6" and longer. I'm hankering for a fish, but Ive got to loose heaps of weight before I think of it!

Morty,

15 weeks to go before you lose the cute bundle of weight. Hope that it all goes well.

Maybe you could get a fish a few months after that!!

I've got 2 small children. They are load s of fun. Hopefully, I can convvince the 5 yr old to try a surf mat next summer.

I'm no expert but can share the experiences I had...

I'm 5'8" and 80kgs (yeah.. need to lose weight). I started on a 6'6" and found it too hard. Bought a 7'6" mini mal and yeah, they are harder to turn but you don't need anythign smaller until you can do it all on the min mal. Nothing you can't do on it really....

I ended up upgrading towards longboards - I just prefer it. I now mostly ride my 9'6" tufflite (which makes turning a lot easier). And if it's really big I'll pull out a 6'2".

Depending on your level, stay with the bigger, thicker boards until you can confidently turn on them first.

my brother is a board salesman for fun on a sunday on sydney's northern beaches!
I've got heaps of good stories to tell you about him - but none to do with selling boards!
he's good looking, he surfs well, he's fit, he likes picking up travellers......
