A few paragraphs would help.

As I've said, for me they go better as a quad. I'll continue to try them as a gullwing single every now and then, and I will admit they go faster that way, but I just can't find any rhythm and control with the gullwing.

I pick up my 7' zot tomorrow. It took a while to have the quad conversion done.

I agree about designing the profile that Simon used to invent the Thruster. I love how surfing produces crazy obsessed ratbags who think they are misunderstood geniuses. Imagine if everyone rode an Astron Zot. The world would be a better place and surfing performance would increase tenfold.

I'd love to see someone who was really good ride a single fin zot in the WSL.

My guess is that they would be out performed in all aspects of modern surfing. But, you never know, there might be some surprises.

He's built a cult following based around his own contestable design theories with a religious fevour that suggests it's the supreme ultimate truth bar none.

I was watching a clip about how he designed the Gulwing fin on the basis of first observing the boomerang, then a seagull flying into a headwind.

What's the science behind any of that for designing a surfboard fin? All seems like very experimental backyard stuff.

Just finished reading this thread - there are some guys that put up vids on the mccoy riders facebook page. Some of them surf well. Others, not so much.

Single fin McCoy potbelly in tiny lined up waves.

Seriously - McCoy boards are different, but good fun. I didn't outgrow them - they outgrew me - just too much volume!

I would like to be able to say that the McCoy riders group is a scintillating collection of original and outspoken surfers enjoying the unique capabilities of Geoff's unique designs... but in reality its usually pretty pedestrian. What else could you expect when everyone is in agreement?

I've been part of the McCoy cult.

It's great fun, really great people. I totally recommend it.

How do i get this from Adelaide?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/McCoy-Pot-Be ... SwlxhZh~HF
Happy to pick it up and store it here for you until you figure out how to get it to NSW.
Interesting that it was shaped for Gerry Wedd, a well respected local surfer who has been around forever.
Couple of links to him, sounds like he has a bit of a McCoy fetish at times.

This nineties mini gun looks ok. Enough foam without being a bobbling cork.
