Dunno what his board was. All I saw was B-grade pro surfer surfing with a sprinkling of hipster style. Quite why the Professor is holding this up as what-coulda-been has me mystified. I'm sure he'll be along to explain in due course

Thanks swiv. I had a lovely Nespresso in bed (mmmmmm) but not breaky

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

Nespresso might be more costly than your critique

well to be fair god save, people were wigging out over the weird combination of moral distaste and consumer demand around pro surfing for some time before the WSL showed up.

I guess the thing is that top end pro surfing is one of surfing's very very few actual focal points. It's like some indeterminate low pressure system that occasionally flares up into a Tropical Cyclone of furiously spinning nonsense before making landfall and dying back again.

btw...Tropical Cyclone "Debbie"? what sort of bullshit name is that for a Tropical Cyclone? Debbie is someone whom your sister was friends with in year seven, not a raging tropical storm with winds in excess of 170km/h.

I've heard quite a few young pros say the main aspect they've had to work on to be successful at WSL level is improving the linking of their turns. That's aesthetics.

Now if you want to make an argument that pro surfers have become too good for non critical beach breaks then I might listen. But this suggestion that there exists a sub-tier of glorious expressiveness free from the CT's draconian shackles is frankly ludicrous

what about style? I know there's a possibility style isn't on the welsh radar. but i can assure you it's very important to us.

is it not the biggest indicator of the WSL flailing; the fact a solid, squat little poo-stancer who surfs like the disney iteration of the tasmanian devil won a world title?

mooning over turning surfing, is the exact opposite of the point I'm making. the goofy foots were in fact 1-dgree of separation from turnless surfing, with the one turn on speed dial for the whole tournament.

meanwhile, Kelly, joel, andino etc were rattling off 5 or 6 different turns per wave.
But, from the little I watched

there is the problem. you're not watching enough, and you just admitted so. Is it okay in Wales to not watch something, but have a strong opinion of that same thing you did not watch?

because over here, we call that peacocking. and nobody, and i mean nobody likes a peacock.

thank you and good day sir.

ADS has much better style these days.
Next time he paddles inside you at Greenmount, watch the way he constructs a wave.
You may lapse into a coma through the sheer predictability of every turn, but you will have to concede the man can surf.

Yep, I've rated ADS for the last 4-5 years. There's much less stylish Aussies and Brazzos that have been on tour.

ADS has gone away and worked on his style. he still squats with his feet apart like a cambodian on a floor toilet. but still, he's made some efforts there to tidy it up.

which is the complete and utter opposite of what sally fitz has done. her style looked miles worse at snapper than at any other point i can remember.

i get filled with a red, misty seethe watching her surf a down the line wave.

Yeah, it's hard to watch. Pretty ugly in fact. Legs too wide, bum stuck out.

Kelly's deck had massive compressions on it before the heat. Must like the board I assume he took more than one?
