Imagine watching the snapper pro webcast with Steve in his basement.
i tried to head down. got slightly detoured and stopped for a swim. then the traffic was madness, it started pissing down so i came back home.
i'll see more on the webcast than i would down there.

I agree that his boards still look weird and tinny.
But from my pov Gabby's final wave smashed Kelly into oblivion. It wasn't even close .

Tend to agree about his board......I thought it actually came into its own though yesterday against Jordy as it seemed suited to those junky little sections when it went onshore.
I don't reckon Gabs last wave was that much better.....better definitely but not that much.
Annoying watching so many missed cover ups out there....particularly when the move they make instead blows the wave.

there's no way gabby's wave was a whole point better than kelly's.
gabriel = same turn all the way down the point, just windscreen wipers.
Kelly = same amount of turns (9) but did 4 different turns and got a little barrel.
variety and repertoire was not rewarded.

Well they can't pay variety if the turns are weird and half-arsed.
I've gone back and looked at the heat analyser now and re-watched those last 2 waves a dozen times, as well as all of kelly's waves this event.
he surfed horribly, apart from that heat with Jordy where the surf was so junky that his weird turns seemed well matched to the wave.
I'd pay one and a half of those turns that Kelly did on his last wave with Gabby.....the rest were weak and half realised.

steve shearer wrote:Kelly's surfing is rickety, unconvincing, uncompromisingly weird and bizarre. He surfed horribly all event and that was reflected in his low heat and wave scores.
6 heats in head high snapper and he got one wave, one!, in the excellent range.
Yes, it's variety....but that doesn't make the dishes he is serving up any more appetising.
I'm completely with ya shearer, I can't believe he made the quarters.
I mean yeah it is different watching live and on the webcast but the one thing you do see on the webcast is flow or lack of.

Kelly was the balls against Jordy y'day. did anyone watch that heat? that was old school slater.
the push for goofy's has been mind-blowing this event. repetitive turns beating more diverse reg foot turns and barrels.

I agree with that, Fanning was bizarrely under-scored.

Kaipo is quite hard to listen to.
Anyone that starts an interview with O.m.g has problems.
I think he's trying a bit hard. I'm sure if he just went natural laid back Hawaiian he'd be better.

Steph is nearly 30 years of age and has won six world titles, how does she qualify as a "young lady"?
