Steve, I am a uncomplicated man with simple pleasures and a simple life.

I live in a nice place, surf when I want, work relatively low hours, have a healthy family, can afford to eat what I want, can afford to heat my home.

How much does a human need to be happy ?

I'm happy enough surfing the local reefs and reef points when they're on. (Local spanning from central to south coast NSW). Though if I had a bucket list, it'd be raglan at 6-8 foot, and Northern California, ocean beach and the likes during those big clean groundswells at 8-12 foot where it's looking like a massive peaking sheet of glass. The basque coast would be good to surf again also.

Loofy didn't you just spend 70k on renovations and landscaping?

You've lost your subtlety.

Saltman - your projecting dude.

Boo - 70k would have been a dcxxkn good result.

Anyhow boys save your pennies, lay awake excited at night, get the annual leave only to turn up at your dream destination with ten fccckn boats and 70 surfers in the water.

You are living the dream, you just gotta realise it.

In this thread, and re: boat trips, I agree with loofy.

Been invited on a couple of trips to the Maldives and it just sounds horrible.

lol don't you live in Sydney?

Anyway saltman's list got me thinking, where do I want to surf that I haven't already? I thought, hmm, then realised it'd be more about the circumstances then the spot. I'd really like to surf JBay fully pumping on that Free Flight ten channel singly. I'd like to surf some of the reefs around Bundoran in Ireland with Easkey Britton. I'd like to spend three or four weeks in Tahiti and associated islands with lil bro and a couple of others.

Otherwise? Probs some of the right points in Morocco and sth Sahara, waves like the one in that Fanning vid. Curren told me about this one where there's an abandoned village, the sand has blown in from inland and half-filled the houses, so you can go into these rooms that are half filled with sand. He reckons the wave is the best point break he has ever seen.

Yeah, I'd love to get to Ireland where Feargal Smith and those guys are combining organic farming with surfing.
I could abide that.

And I'd love to visit Wales to see all the gay guys singing in those queer accents in those adorable little villages.

Nick, can you get into any of those veterans heats at WSL events?
Could get some uncrowded bells/Jbay.

Ocean Beach San Fran. Yep, this will do me just fine. Sure, there's countless better waves you could surf, but big peaking Aframe groundswells with a wall to tear into are the type of waves I love surfing best.

I hung out in San Fransisco for a while, right behind Ocean Beach, at Sunset ......in a house looking straight at it. It was end of winter, freezing and it looked 10 foot every day.
I was that out of my head on LSD that I never went near the Ocean. It was hanging out in Mission and Haight Ashbury and Chinatown and getting drunk in dive bars every night. Good times.

Dude the WSL hates me. Well ok they don't totally hate me. But I'm not on their team.

Sounds epic. Pity you didn't get out amongst it though. There's something about cold water groundswells and the rawness of it all that I find more appealing than somewhere like indo.

Iggy there are plenty of canyon-focussed waves that break like that on the west coast of the us without you needing to duckdive 6ft walls of foam for 40 minutes.

Groovy. Ocean Beach is the one I'm familiar with, but if there's other options with either safe rock offs or well defined channels to paddle out through then even better.

I'll probably never get there though. I'd be happy to settle for big days on the Mornington peninsula or west of cape Otway providing it's not a closing out nightmare.

Bucket list?
Getting into the Bucket List for a beer?
Nah, dunno.....there's quite a few places I plan on going to over the next two years. There's also waves I'd like to ride....or would have liked to ride years ago. Honuloa Bay......possible. I'd like to surf Rincon....just cause it's Rincon. Maybe do that.....maybe not. Plan on going back to Sri Lanka....have some fun surfs there but it's mainly the place. Maldives...nlikely....Maritius...possible but probably not. Spain definitely...south of France.
I'm basically thinking about buying an Around the World Ticket...so everything has to line up.
Basically Pacific...West Coast USA...New York, London, Edinburgh......might visit friends in Bath...Paris....South of France...Spain Portugal....Morocco? Maybe....primarily for the waves if I went.
Italy?.......then maybe hit India. That's the sketchy bit where depending on what I can do ticket wise I could hit the Maldives or Maritius.....or Sri Lanka.....then where ever in SE Asia the planes stop at.
That's my bucket list I guess.
I'm definitely going to Fiji in June....for a wedding.
Put your big boy pants on
I mean, tastebuds? WGAF?

I would go anywhere with warm water, good waves and no crowds. Especially no crowds.
A lot to ask for unless you have truck loads of time, a good quantity of cash and no other commitments. That's about it.
