It says Sunshine Beach. Couple of shots back towards the coastline would suggest that's right.
But I'm not really sure.

Would love to see this footage on a big theatre screen.
The slow motion allows your mind to wander around the screen and be totally gobsmacked by the insanity of surfing the place.

One of the things with surf movies is the degree of awe is actually nowhere near the reality. That's for actual surfers. For non surfers if you show them maxing Chopes.....that's how they react to a head high wave at the beach.

Yeah, there was wave after wave where the water was coming up the face so fast that they were just getting sucked up the face.
Which reminds me, I believe that the drag of the water goes up as the cube of the speed, so they may need smaller boards, fins (especially fins) and rails so they can get down the face

Unlike Peahi, I'm not sure they'd ever be able to paddle big teahupoo. Same reason they cant with Shipsterns.
The actual wave doesn't allow the kind of big guns needed to accrue the speed to make the drop.
Those waves travel at ridiculous speeds. Look at peahi, those boards guys are riding are 60+ litres of foam.
The biggest board which fits in the step at shipsterns is about a 6'6"... stuffing 60litres into a 6'6" isnt possible i dont think.
