Nice, loof

BA, things may well have changed at lohis since when I went but my observations are:

- the left at lohis is a good wave (I surfed it up to 6ft iggy) but it's not heaps better even than the best waves round here on their day. Warmer, of course, but not life-changingly good. It's a reef break - no sand at all - which may or may not suit your missus

- if you weren't booked through World Surfaris, it seemed like you were put on the sloppy seconds boat if you wanted to go to one of the other breaks. Conversely, if you did have the World Surfaris pass, it looked like they really made an effort to get you to the best and least crowded waves

- there were almost always people out at lohis but it wasn't too hard to get your share. It was - and I think still is - very popular with groups of Israeli surfers

- the food was OK but nothing more. That was the all-inclusive stuff. I didn't eat at the restaurant

- our (UK) wristbands got us a far better choice of booze. By the end of the week, Australians were begging us to get the rounds in to have a bit of variety from the quite poor lager

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

???? Different nationalities get access to different booze.

Pints of Tenant Extra in the Maldives. People from the UK know how to compliment tropical conditions. Just naturally blend in. Lol

Its all pretty uninspiring really. Pay top dollar to stay in crowded over priced below par resorts to surf waves riddled with israelis and fly 14 hours to get there.

Who could be fcccked?

What does your wife want? I've heard good things about Nusa Island PNG (although the surf isn't world class I gather - is fun tho) and a few places in Lombok.

There is always Hawaii

I've been to pasta five times now and it was nothing like that. Going again next year

Agreed, loofy. Fiji was pleasantly surprising despite my encounters with the reef. It's simple to get around and you can pay for your surf trip rather than shell out for the whole package...unless you want to. Bali is still wide open if you want to explore..relatively speaking. Ridiculous really considering how much hype surrounds the place.

Went to Pasta Point 10 years ago or so. Preferred Sultans across the channel, I found Pastas a little challenging on my, fairly limited, backhand.

I've been twice and it's a better wave than Lohis and you're a lot closer to Sultans and Jails. But to be honest I've had heaps better waves in Sumatra and it's a hell of a lot easier to get to.

The whole Pasta thing became a bit stale for me after Mark Scanlon got done. My brother lobbied Alexander Downer to get him to intervene. Tony the founder hung Mark out to dry.

57g of cannabis oil in a place like the Maldives certainly indicates a lapse of judgement

Agreed but the next time I went there Mark was in Gaol and Tony was still surfing the point. He was doing it for Tony

BA, mate of mine Jenny Boggis is running womens surf trips to Fiji.
Looks pretty OK to awesome for less than expert surfers. The feedback was positive.

Would be easy for you to organise trips to Frigates or Cloudbreak if you wanted to up the excitement level. No israelis, good beer, kava, great fishing and no chance of long jail time if you get caught on the end of a joint.
