I'd go to that place in the Telos that Nick used to do his ASL board tests at

I've been to lohis, BA, albeit 8 years ago. It's OK. The left on the island is quite good and probably alright for a beginner/intermediate when it's smaller. Across the channel is ninjas, a soft right that's just about worth surfing if you have nothing better to do. They limit it to 45 surfers, most of whom will be Israeli. I think in North Male I would go to Pasta Point rather than lohis (I haven't been there, it just looks a nicer resort and the wave seems a bit less sectiony than lohis).

Somewhere like the Telo Island Lodge (https://www.pegasuslodges.com/destinati ... land-lodge) looks much nicer. More variety of uncrowded breaks too.

Did a boat a few years back. Then a few nights at Kandooma. Swell relatively small so boats concentrated at Cokes Chickens. The land based waves are exclusive, but they can roll up anywhere the charters are. Kandooma was a good finish as there were 3 non-surfing women aboard, but to base yourself there is pretty limiting as it's a fair steam up to the swell. Not sure what they charge. Lohi's is closer and has a cracking left I'd love to have surfed at a bit of size. K is a right, with a left on a little island you can paddle to. Think it's fickle, but swell was small while I was there and only surfed the right once. Donweather who's now not around these parts gave me a forecast that was very close to spot on. Gotta book before that's available though. Although pretty crowded at Cokes and Chickens, getting the best set waves at Chickens was easy. They break wide and heaps of kooks had no idea. Cokes was pretty competitive. I think that's the exception as far as boats/land camps go

Pasta point, sultans and honkies over the channel.

Pasta limited to 30 resort surfers only.

Thanks swvic. The crowd thing concerns me, even if they are kooks. Just don't want to be fighting for waves or having to weave around people once you're on a wave. Most resort waves seem to be limited to 50 surfers. Still seems a lot to me.

Aren't the Maldives 14+ hours from Australia? Seems an awful long way to go when you have better options closer

Be fun getting shot with a bow and arrow, tied to a tree and watching your mrs getting raped in front of you.

No dodging on the wide set waves at Chickens. Me and a few crew from NSW were the only ones in tune. Brazos, Israelis and other assorted tards too deep. Guide was a very good surfer who reckoned Chickens is his favourite Maldivian wave at 6 ft plus. Best I got was 4 plus
