curses and curses upon kelly's wavepool! ten million years of drought, flooding, landslides, earthquakes, soil and water contamination from over-fertilization of neighbouring orchards, locusts, killer bees, cockroaches, rats, cats, dogs, crocodiles, spider monkeys, monkey dogs, and fresno ice and crack addicts breaking in and stealing boardies and wetties off the line upon it!

I'm just gonna pop this here, just to prove that I was right all along
me, in June 2015, wrote:And as the standard shortboard fell from mainstream grace, its unfavoured otherness damned with the curled lip addition of 'high performance', so surfing will become 'sea surfing', its contests quickly abandoned by broadcaster, WSL and sponsor alike as all embrace the merits of a package that starts on time, runs on time and most importantly is cheap. Events like the 2015 Fiji Pro will be no more and tales of the derring-do contained within will be confined to the ramblings of dribbling dotards. In time, Australia as a competitive surfing nation will be crushed under the Russian and Chinese juggernaut. So there

I think Kim stole his use of the word Dotard, which shows Godsave truly has a global reach.

Why don't the Ziffs just go out and buy surf breaks and do the same as the above with them. For instance I'm sure they could buy the whole of Uluwatu for less than a hundred million (50 million in payoffs, the rest to the current owners).

Gragagan for half that. Desert point a quarter. Small change for various Mentawai breaks.
Because this is new. There's never been anything like it before. And they own it and can franchise it. I can't stress this enough, this pool is not like surfing as we know it. All the things you know and think about surfing just don't apply to it.
Did you have a go of the left Nick? That's meant to be the better wave isn't it?

Well I read "the Kelly Slater Wave Company r and d team have been back to the drawing board, tweaking and experimenting, and developing a different-looking left down the other side of the pool" just this morning. Better hurry up with your story Nick.

"It's a serious wave, steep, fast and pitching out over a few inches of water above a rock hard base. If you fall, you hurt."
Did you fall Nick?

ha ha I felt completely unthreatened by the pool. I did wipe out and it was entirely survivable.

hey Lucky Al, if the Vietnamese,Thai or say Russian governments decided that they wanted a wavepool more than The Little Rocketman wanted an A-bomb and were throwing money everywhere to get one AND thanks to some sweet family connections you had the inside running on the tender for hospitality/catering/media liaison or water safety would you maintain the same level of contempt, disgust, rage & loathing as say ....
and here's a scoop
upcoming pool revue titled
"Fear & Loathing in a Californian Waste Water Treatment Settlement pond, how I survived the undertow."

In the new reality of pool land the god who jdecides how hazardous the wave will be is Thy Most Virginal Holy Litigation Attorney

Its a concrete base covered in a liner which is hard but apparently you slide on it so its not so bad.
