It will be interesting to see the footage from the mini-WSL event that is about to be held at Kelly's pool.
The latest 'leaked' footage supports this description, from Stab, of Kelly's Wave 2.0., a longer better wave. It actually looks like it is getting pretty close to being a non-boring wave to repeatedly watch.

"The wave’s way longer, a little larger, and demonstrably better. Here’s how it works: There’s a long wall at the takeoff with enough room to jam two-to-three turns, then the wave slows, sets up into the first barrel section (that on occasion will spit!), then returns to form for turns, potentially airs, and crescendos into a final draining tube and banger-begging end section. From what we’ve heard, it peels for so long that Tour-toned legs are wobbly by the time the wave ends. According to those who have surfed it, you need binoculars to see the wave's take-off zone from "shore".

Caio Ibelli ripping.

But, it looks intense fun to surf. What surfer wouldn't want a long session on that wave?

The GOAT wants to become surfings first billionaire.

Discuss.

Yeah of course would enjoy a turn, no doubt about that but watching the pros on the same wave over and over again is ffcckn boring. For me anyway.

Michael Jordan was sports first billionaire and after speaking to kelly, him following that path is something he is candidly aware of.

he'll never get there. he won't even get halfway there, but that won't stop him from trying. kelly for all intents and purposes is just about the money at this point of his life.

agree. although i'd go one step further. if i never surf a wavepool, i'll still die happily contented with my surfing life. i dunno, i just don't get stoked out by watching it.

I will go one step further again. If I never surf a wavepool I will die happier then if I had surfed one and cheapened my soul with that shit. I am gonna say this here on the front page for everyone to see: IF YOU SURF WAVEPOOLS YOU ARE A FCCCCCKN CNUT, NOTHING BUT A CNUT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ENJOY THEM. IF YOU HAVE A GO JUST TO TRY IT YOU ARE STILL A CNUT BUT NOT QUITE AS BIG AS A CNUT.

I'd have a go at surfing a wave pool. A small perfect wave may provide the means of pushing your own performance envelope a bit, example; busting the fins out on a vert snap. Whereas with an ocean wave, particularly in a packed line up I'd be more inclined to play it safe, focusing on flow and length of ride etc. rather than risk wasting a wave on pushing my limits and blowing waves.

That said, irrespective of how perfect a wave pool wave is, I couldn't see it taking the place of an ocean wave. Might be ok once a month or something.

All the engineers and others that actually designed and built the thing must really have the shits it's referred to as Kelly's wave.

@ loof. Hardly. I ride single fins nearly half the time because I prefer simplicity and flow over pushing the performance envelope. Though in a perfect wave pool wave I'd see it as a cheaper more disposal medium than an ocean wave therefore be prepared to waste a bunch of them just to see if I could wire something new purely for the fk of it
