I've narrowed things down and simplified, given at 51 y/o the brain is writing cheques the body can't cash.

6.2 Campbell Octafish
6.6 Goddard quad
7.0 Outer Island quad
7.2 Campbell egg
9.2 Goddard modern log
10.1 La Maitre glider

Saltman It's a smart board. Clean simple roundtail, slightly eggy planshape, plenty of foam in the mid section but foiled out and the rails are not too beefy. Deep single to double concave.
My first Outer and I doubt it will be my last.

Have spent a bit of time thinking about what boards i’m going to take Nusa Island Retreat in 6 weeks.
Went and put the tape over a few of my boards to try and figure out which ones to take.
Biggest learning.... they all reduce in tail rocker as they shorten. Their tails get narrower as they get longer.

Only going for 7days of surfing.

What i’m thinking is these four are the most safe boards to take:

6’2 x 19 5/8 x 2 7/16 31L DHD Sweet spot
6’0 x 19.6 x 2.52 PCC 31.3L IQ shortboard
5’10 x 19 3/4 x 2 1/2 31.5L DHD The Twin
5’5 x 19.5 x 2.5 30.5L Firewire Tomo Evo

But i’d love to take a alternative board.

I can fit 4 boards in my 7’0 bag.

Other boards I could take:

5’11 x 20 x 2 3/8 32L Firewire Elfuego swallow tail 5/4/3
6’1 x 20.5 x 2.5 PCC 1970’s Single fin
6’8 x 20.5 x 2.85 PCC rounded pin single. A Big red f#@ken beauty.

If it was me, I'd take the twin, the sweet spot and the 6'8.

Friend of mine who has been says take a longer board. Just in case of small swell or complete exhaustion. So the 6'8 sounds like it should be one of them

the 6'8 could come in handy at Icelands...

most the waves around there arn't full on by mentawai standard so ride what you normally do.

Edit: ignore that, I thought you were talking about a different place.

The 6’8 served that purpose well in indo. The last few days of the trip I was stuffed.

Culling the quiver to generate some cash for a small hobby business. It’s not a very nice feeling, but needs to happen.

5'9 x 21.25 x 2.5 keel fish (for sale)
5'10 x 19 3/4 x 2 1/2 DHD Twin 31.5L (for sale)
5'11 x 20 x 2 3/8 firewire el fuego 32L (sold)
6'2 x 19 5/8 x 2 7/16 DHD sweet spot 2.0 31.1L (sold)
6'8 x 20.5 x 2.85 PCC good wave single fin (for sale)
7'7 x 22 x 2.9 PCC single fin midlength (for sale)

Keeping these...
5'5 x 19.5 x 2.5 Firewire Tomo EVO 30.5L tri/quad
6'0 x 19.6 x 2.52 31.3L PCC all rounder shorty tri/quad
6'1 x 20.5 x 2.5 PCC single fin
7’2 x 21.25 x 2.75 47L Firewire Seaxe (single, 2+1, or quad)
9'0 x 22.5 x 2 3/4 epoxy longboard

(All my boards are advertised on the bumtree if you’re interested)

canned the business idea. was going to get a few products put onto Amazon.

Seaxe is sensational. had it out up at saltwater a few weeks ago. getting waves from the end of the point to the beach... love it.
don't remember the last time I paddled that much.

got the quiver culled a fair bit these days. (although some would still consider it excessive)

But it currently sits at:
5'9 firewire machado midas (did a direct swap for the 5'5 Evo - i'll never go that short again). Love this thing. for those thinking about riding it as a straight twin... keep the trailer in your wetty, unless you're complete ripper you'll need it if there's anything more than 2ft around. IMO, the front fin placement is too far foward to be surfed as a straight twin. I tried it with MR'78 fins and it was way too loose in 3ft cronulla point.
5'9 twin fish (for sale) want to turn this into a Slater designs Gamma 5'10/11
5'10 dhd the twin (love this - just wish it was a firewire so it would last longer)
6'0 PCC roundtail IQ
6'1 PCC single fin
7'2 Firewire Seaxe
7'7 PCC single fin
9'0 surfboard warehouse epoxy mal

The 7'7 single fin is sensational. I've had some of my best days surfing on it. Going to hang onto it me thinks.
The 6'8 single was a great board too, great paddler, took it on my indo trip a couple of years ago. Was awesome when my arms went to custard towards the end of the trip. Was sad to see it go, although have a funny feeling I'll see it back on the gumtree one day.
