Occasionally I see an older bloke here on a similar aged mid length sunova.

Obviously a bargain- gone in less than 24 hours. Could have got Digger to pick it up for you.

Al Merrick must be the flimsiest boards on the market.
There's a snapped-off nose Al Merrick board with its FCS fins removed that's been sitting on a nearby nature strip for the last week. It looks like it could be easily recommissioned (albeit 6" shorter than original) but apparently no one wants it. :|

The ad was taken down within 3 hours chris, takes me 3.5 to get down to Margaret River. Digger is up north.

yeah thought so. the fish tails will be fun, I'd be tempted to foil em out real thin for flex like mackie does

The original Bert Berger boards made in his Mandurah factory were, IMO, the best surfboard construction ever. They were much lighter and stronger than surftechs with much better flex. I've owned four of them. He couldn't produce enough of them even at $1000 a pop, it was a one year wait on an order. Its rare to see one of those originals with any surfer generated depressions.

By the way he made up the decking in first, already glassed both sides and vacuum bagged and stored as a roll, then it was vacuumed onto the shaped blank. Blanks were usually the crappiest polystyrene he could get as it was the lightest and really only served as a plug to hold the shape as the skin was bagged onto it.

Don't you hate these time wasters. I hope he didn't have to drive too far. Did he bargain him down or just walk away?
Offered it for $250 as he was leaving.....not interested. South American Seller. Only a couple of suburbs drive.

Wouldn't thin fish tails be a recipe for chips and damage? Hit the point of the tail pulling the board out of the car or whatever? Not that I've had such a board so just conjecture

It's called a "copy paste" beanpole. If I didn't have my 6'0 single I'd buy that thing. It'd be a fun down-the-line reefbreak board. I dig the gnarly airbrushed graphics on it also.
