As anybody ever been able to identify and track down the specific great white involved in a deadly attack? Plenty have tried. The vote sounds like political theatrics to me.
What?

On several occasions the large white responsible for an attack has hung around for hours.

After a guy was bitten in half at Julian Rocks in 1993, local fisho Ron Boggis went out and hooked the shark and it disgorged parts of the bloke it bit in half.

There's a strong justification for going out and catching the shark if it hangs around the attack site.

Fair enough. I still think it doesn’t happen very often.

It happened with the fatal attack in Byron Sep 2014
It happened with the near fatal attack in Ballina July 2015
It happened with several of the fatal attacks in WA
It happened with 2 of the fatal attacks in SA last year.
It happened with the fatal attack in Kingscliff 2020
It happened with the fatal attack at Wooli 2020

I'm sure there are other examples but those are the documented ones off the top of my head.

Where the shark responsible for the attack hung around for significant period of time following the attack, and could have easily been caught with a high degree of confidence that it was the animal responsible.

What's the point of killing the shark that has attacked someone? Revenge?

Potentially saving someone else from being attacked.

Would having the shark on display at the funeral be sufficient vengeance?
Is shark Kosher / Halal ?

Just stumbled on this, Adelaide metro clubby on ski attacked. No vision of the shark but the tension is unnerving. Go straight to the end if it’s boring to see the bite out of the ski.
