Whites love that clean, low turbidity water.
RIP fellow surfer.

All things being equal, I’m surprised there are less attacks in Esperance and Albany than there are in northern NSW.

Drones, tags, hooks and dead people have really brought the shark into focus

Population I reckon:

Albany 33,000
Esperance 12,000
Walpole 500
Denmark 2,500
Etc

and its 1,600k from Augusta to Eucla

^^ they’re a bit more forthcoming with information than the NSW DPI.

A new scientific paper!
Some very interesting observations.
Very interesting what’s not mentioned too.
Draw your own conclusions

It's all a bit pointless, there are heaps out there. I remember seals getting smashed out at Little Island without too much media attention.

I'm starting to become blase about them, not sure whether that's a good thing or not though.

I think it was after surfing in Bali for so long knowing that no surfer in Indonesia has ever been killed or badly injured there by a shark, that makes oz seem way more dangerous.

Wasn't someone attacked a while ago at Balian?
I always presumed it was because they had been fished out.
Shark Fin Soup anyone?

There have been a couple of minor injuries at Balian, bites on the hands but not for a few years, unless something I haven’t heard about more recent.
When I was there with my son a few years ago there were a few small sharks seen jumping in the line-up, small bull sharks maybe, never got a really good look, but very small.
Most recent one I know of the guy was bitten on the forearm and I think was wearing a shiny watch or jewellery, bad idea. The water is like a chocolate milkshake there after rain, the break is right in the mouth of a river.

Yeah, two surfers at Balian, one about 10 years ago, one a few years ago. Both bitten on the arm but no permanent disability. That's it for the entire archipelago, can't get much better than that.
