DPI Fisheries advise: tagged white shark detected by Sharpes Beach, Ballina receiver at 03:34:00 AM (AEST) on 15-Aug-2018
DPI advise 2.29m White Shark tagged and released from SMART drumline at Joggly Point, Evans Head at 09:11 am on 15 Aug 2018.
DPI advise 2.38m White Shark tagged and released from SMART drumline at SEVEN MILE/LENNOX HEAD, Lennox Head at 02:52 pm on 15 Aug 2018.
`interesting to me is that most whites caught in daylight, sunny day hours.
Data should be enough to quash the suggestions that dawn /dusk are more dangerous.

A study of great white attacks in WA concluded that there was no pattern associated with morning, evening, sun, cloud conditions [Edit] or number of people in the water. They have no fear, are inquisitive and just cruise around doing whatever the fcuk they want

Yeah I know but they are baited early and pulled later than the hook-up times.
I watch the guy do it every day.

The sharks are using scent to find it, presumably. Takes a while for the slick/scent to disperse, and be tracked.
Dunno about dusk.

saw some guys down Sharpes beach the other afternoon with full game fishing tackle set-up.
Old mate was just about to paddle a kayak out near the drum-line with a snapper frame on a 14/0 circle to try and bait up a white.
He reckons he'd had three hookups with whites this season.

Major breeding area...Stockton. I like how the mouth of Tuncurry Breakwater always has a shark. You would think it would go for a cruise somewhere once in a while.
