The contracts for drum lines and net operators require them to be cleared every 48 hours at least so it's not all that likely sharks see their captured friends.
The smell of death lingers. Sharks enter those locations into their shark sat navs and avoid them.

Glad you cleared that up Pinhead. Who knows what other anthropomorphic nonsense we would have to consider. It’s so obvious they have sat nav. Cnuts.

Do you have any theories about how or why they seem to work?
I don't think there's enough evidence yet to say that they do work, tbh.i couldn't find any decent papers in a brief search.

I think it may affect their feeding behaviour (or avoiding suspended baits), so they're less likely to be recaptured, but not necessarily their site fidelity.
Maybe they weren't going to stick around anyway.

We didn't really have the data for the recapture rates in nets and 'dumb' drumlines, so maybe there's just a whole lot more sharks than we first thought.

Yikes, so Winter is when they turn up. The one at Tuncurry just hangs there all year.

Some were spotted this year at Port Mac as early as April

Poor old Grey Nurses, eh. Ben Cropp blew them out of the water in the sixties with his power head spearguns.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
