It appears as though you can dish it out, but when the medicine is presented to you, you have difficulty in swallowing it.

people seem to be confusing seeing a shark with likely being bitten by one
Erase.

Apparently no problems with "people seem to be confusing seeing a shark with likely being bitten by one" TMS

This afternoon at Port Macquarie. Seems mighty like the East Coast has proven to be a few years behind west with these increasing numbers

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
My brother salvaged a 2 metre long rib for his Chihuahua to play with, from the dead whale that washed ashore at Angourie last week.
Fishermen reported seeing 3 great whites and a bullshark chewing on the carcass before it washed ashore.
Were the 3 great whites members of the Ballina 7.
In the bit I saw they mentioned that there are no great whites around if Orcas are nearby and scientist think they hear the Orcas and stay away which leads them to think maybe a recording of Orca sounds could be played underwater as a shark deterrent.

Caught a bit of that program, will watch the rest on iview.aaarating wrote:3:30 today on ABC the day the shark came in. Have a look.

Regarding the shark attack at Port Macquarie and the theory of more attacks around the full moon.
Yesterday was at the half way point between the new moon and the full moon.
The full moon will be on the 30th August.

So we've confirmed the sharks aren't part of some pagan Wiccan religion, despite taking residence on the North Coast.

Your brother probably committed an offence by taking the rib. Depending on the species it can be a fine of more than 10 grand.

Yes that's right, someone said to him not to take it as it is National Parks property, so he went back the next day and got it, while he was there a guy and a girl were also taking a few ribs, he was going to take the jawbone but it was too heavy to carry, he reckons the whale was about 10 metres long and was very smelly with lots of bite marks.alakaboo wrote:Your brother probably committed an offence by taking the rib. He is going to hang the bone up on his verandah as a kind of sculpture conversation piece once the smell goes away.
Well according to my 2015 astrological calender and moon planting guide yesterday was an excellent day for sowing seed so maybe the shark at Port Macquarie mistook the bodyboarder for a potential mate, after all the body boarder did see the shark before it bit him so they did make eye contact.el rancho wrote:So we've confirmed the sharks aren't part of some pagan Wiccan religion, despite taking residence on the North Coast.

Sort of, rancho.
It is an offence to 'take' many native animals, and the definition was extended to parts of animals. In part to stop the trade in parts.
Sounds like a humpback or right whale so probably not as big a fine.

Comparing Shark Shield versions Freedom7 and Surf7:
.
The Surf7 has a longer and thinner antenna and is mounted to a mounting kit which is glued to the surf board. The Freedom7 attaches to the ankle similar to a leg rope. The electrodes are the silvery areas in the antennas. On the Surf7, the electrodes are also thicker than the other parts of the antenna:
.
.
The stainless steel mesh electrodes on the Surf7 are thinner and longer than on the Freedom7, presumably resulting in similar surface areas, while the electrode centres remain a similar distance apart:
.
.
When paddling on my 8ft board, the proximal electrode of the Freedom7 is a bit too close to my foot, which results in frequent zapping. That very conveniently serves as a reminder to keep my feet out of the water to reduce drag. The proximal Surf7 electrode is much further away, I expect to feel no zapping in my feet while paddling, but have not tried it out, yet. (The peel-and-stick glue for the Surf7 is supposed to set for 48hrs before using it, so no test surf yet).
.
.
When standing, the proximal Freedom7 electrode might sometimes be incompletely submerged. Probably less of a problem on a short board, and more of a problem on a longboard, or on any board that requires moving the aft foot forward to trim.
.
.
I think the Surf7 antenna was designed mainly for shortboards, with the distance to the proximal electrode large enough so that surfers on very short boards do not get their feet zapped. Unfortunately that makes the distance unnecessarily large on longer boards, and unnecessarily large while standing up on any board:
.
.
The flexible rubber (red) mounting allows the Surf7 to move out of the way when the legrope gets yanked:
.
.
The mounting kit for the Surf7 is designed to be integrated into the tail pad, but it needs some sort of cover to use when surfing without the Shark Shield.
