Rest in peace ocean brother. Kelly Slater said be would be honoured if a shark took him, I hope it was the same for you.

The beaches and water down there are so clean and clear and yet it's such a dodgy area.

Whites love that clean, low turbidity water.
RIP fellow surfer.
RIP fellow surfer.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes

All things being equal, I’m surprised there are less attacks in Esperance and Albany than there are in northern NSW.
Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Drones, tags, hooks and dead people have really brought the shark into focus

….this was pushing off the wall not diving in.
...running out of breath underwater hasn’t been an issue. Not too bad for a 62 y/o who surfs irregularly.
Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Population I reckon:
Albany 33,000
Esperance 12,000
Walpole 500
Denmark 2,500
Etc
and its 1,600k from Augusta to Eucla

^^ they’re a bit more forthcoming with information than the NSW DPI.

A new scientific paper!
Some very interesting observations.
Very interesting what’s not mentioned too.

This fcuker has been hanging around for about a week. Well either that or there are like 50 tagged whites pinging the receivers.

It's closed down three beaches that I'm aware of in that time. It's still in the area as of 8 hours ago.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
It's all a bit pointless, there are heaps out there. I remember seals getting smashed out at Little Island without too much media attention.
Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Yeah the problem is more the closed beaches. I do find it interesting behaviour that they often move in to an area and lurk for a week or more though.
Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
I'm starting to become blase about them, not sure whether that's a good thing or not though.
I think it was after surfing in Bali for so long knowing that no surfer in Indonesia has ever been killed or badly injured there by a shark, that makes oz seem way more dangerous.

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
It is fcuking dangerous. If you pay attention to sites like that they are always there. The next few months are particularly bad. And coinciding with summer weather and patrols there are more sightings and closures. But I still reckon there must be one nearby every time I surf anywhere in WA.
Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
Wasn't someone attacked a while ago at Balian?
I always presumed it was because they had been fished out.
Shark Fin Soup anyone?

Re: Nth NSW sharks. Can they p!ss off already?
There have been a couple of minor injuries at Balian, bites on the hands but not for a few years, unless something I haven’t heard about more recent.
When I was there with my son a few years ago there were a few small sharks seen jumping in the line-up, small bull sharks maybe, never got a really good look, but very small.
Most recent one I know of the guy was bitten on the forearm and I think was wearing a shiny watch or jewellery, bad idea. The water is like a chocolate milkshake there after rain, the break is right in the mouth of a river.
