Sponsor cynicism in wake of J-Bay

Here's an interesting article from today's SMH confirming that us cynics on RS are not alone when it comes to sponsors milking their opportunities. There is evidence that they have improved their revenue from this "opportunity" that could have cruelly wrested one of Australia's greatest sportsmen from us:

http://www.smh.com.au/business/media-an ... ii2a8.html

So, have these sponsors gone too far?
How can they atone?

I for one would like to see them donate some money to shark attack victims, and in particular to the poor guy in Ballina who is yet to find out whether he will keep his legs.

I wonder if Mick Fanning drinks the Red Bull shit, He walks on stage sipping on a can, my guess it is full of water. He's an elite athlete now, I doubt he would be loading himself up with that amount of caffeine and sugar.

It's been a pretty shameless and cynical attempt to cash in, but not at all unexpected.

Don't hold your breath waiting for any sponsor atonement, as to what Mick does, that's really his personal business.

They are also beautiful and kind. And generous in spirit and in deed.
Flowers also bloom and we can enjoy their fragrance and colour for free.
For now anyway.

In the words of Johann Goethe:

Remembering that we all must die
Should move the hardest heart to tenderness;
Are we not required to show others
The best kindness we ourselves have known?

Yes. Big corporations make money for that very reason. They put in front of us what we want. Ironically like throwing a lure in front of a fish.

Who buys a $100 pair of boardies? We might scoff, but there is enough demand for them, and people pay it.

I wonder if Red Bull funded RCJs medical bills after he rotted his guts out drinking the stuff (and other things)?

There was a whole article in the SMH penned by some marketing parasite about how Fanning & Wilson's 'brand values' have exploded. Still doesn't beat the same newspaper mentioning during a report on the Lindt Cafe siege how the building where it was all happening had sold previously for a bunch of $.

You wonder how they sleep at night sometimes. They would sell their grandmothers false teeth.
