Perhaps you could explain why, of the very best shapers in the world at the time, around fifty of them had enough confidence in Randy French to partner with him to mass produce their boards. I don't think it was just money either, they knew their reputation was at stake.

Actually, it was money. I've heard that first hand from three big name shapers who licenced the shapes to French.

Speaking of which anyone know off hand what size restrictions Garuda has on boards at the moment?

Took my NSD 6'10 custom rounded pin (step-up) and Al Merrick Rookie 6'4 to Canggu/G-land very recently.

Was wishing for something with more paddle power on the bigger (6ft+) days at G-land, but that's probably more a reflection of where my surfing is at than the board.

The Rookie is a sick board, got it brand new for the trip. Heaps of foam under the chest for paddling, crazy nose lift which is confidence inspiring on steep drops and gets pretty radical in turns. Still getting used to how responsive it is, but it felt good on my backhand. Not sure how it will go in mushy beach breaks...

Stayed away from scooters completely.

I'm taking my fat bullet 7'2". Always feel comfortable on about that length.
