I can see surfline are not using their own scale on today’s reports. Bloody Nick! They do use that surfline scale for their WSL forecasts.

Surfline uses straight imperial for wave sizes, though you can opt for a surfer feet measurement.
As they say, head high is 5 feet because they are assuming the surfer has bent knees

This is an excellent rundown on how completely unnecessary and generally dodgy the “surfer feet” approach is.

Derek Hynde on surfing in general and fish. Interesting view.

Haha, so he mentioned getting Steve Lis to shape him a fish, which he "couldn't do justice to" ... then gets him to change the design, by adding more rocker etc, and then says it heresy to change the design. And vomits when a surfboard performs as it should. I want some of what he's on.

He’s got a good eye for a decent surfboard

Now I'm completely confused.

What's wrong with just giving your best estimate in feet? or metres

I vote that we start judging wave heigh in bicycles ... we just need someone to come up with the formula.

Bribie really is two islands now. Those are jet skis you can see out there although one close up looks like he's carrying a board.
Strong ESE so onshore though.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bendy missed misses the swell a bit, Wyre. If I’ve ever felt skunked over the years there. It’s always been on North Swells.
Yep, this totally checked out.

Skunkfest.

Always a nice place to be, though

Was there that area (Bribie) just a sand spit previously? Assume the houses are elsewhere or more inland?

Yeah. It's never been wider than 300 metres and much less in recent times. About a kilometre south of the Caloundra bar. It's all National Park apart from the southern part where all the development is.

Is that old coot from Golden Beach still trying to get Council to 'fix' it?

There's a few locals calling for the council to fix it.

It's fucking National Park you gooses.
Nothing to do with council.

I get that it'll probably have an impact on the existing channels and sandbanks but I really can't see it impacting Golden Beach properties.

Here's approximately where the breakthrough is.
If you know the area it's directly opposite Nelson St.

You're bang on, it won't affect Golden Beach.
But further south than I was expecting.

There was a washover here a year or two ago and everyone panicked then.

There's footage of the Coastguard vessel going out through there yesterday. 2.5m depth right across the channel and nice little lefts and rights happening. :B
Pretty amazing to think that three days ago it was solid.

The pics actually don't do it justice. To stand on the shoreline and look across it's pretty spectacular.

Just wait until the bar shifts there and you can walk from Bulcock.
