Extra foam is a revelation. Either that or this new shape is amazing.

Also, 2nd today in the over 65s at the Alex Winter Classic.
Surf was the best it was all weekend. Friday was abysmal.
Today I got two good clean waves.

Any design or fin guru's know the theory behind the mini fins/nodules/nipples on Carissa Moore's board?

What did you do leeg, add 1/16" to the thickness and 1/8" to the width?

Goddamn the commentators in surfing suck. Kaipo, Strider, Pottz are so awful. I would even swap Joe Turpel for Kaipo. The Jeep "surf the alleys, pull aerials in the sand" ads are about the same level of cringe that the commentators are.

Makes a little extra decorative spray to impress the judges.

It's 6'2". A few years ago I was on 5'11" x 18 1/2" x 2 3/8". Now I'm on whatever the stock dims are, although Jon wrote the litres slightly less than what the websites say. I was nervous at the size but it is very maneuverable and the floatation is a great surprise.

Similar to vortex control winglets on aircraft wings.
An attempt to get more laminar flow off the tail, operating a little like channels.
Probably also gives her more feel for the tail, and lets her run smaller fins and get a bit looser. I heard some expert say a while back he thought most of the girls' boards were overfinned.

But honestly I'd say she's chasing shadows and it's a hologram bracelet situation, looking for confidence.

@steve my boards a few years ago were "in" the water. This one (and to a similar extent but with a very different feel also the ghosts) is "on" the water. I liken it to fat skis vs skinny skis. I thought I would sacrifice hold and time will tell but in playful waves it's great to skip and skim along.

Re: Carissa’s claws
Kai Lenny posted a day ago “Recently the way I have been able to step up my game to the next level is thanks to the modern hydrodynamic advancements from @minksystems. I have them on every board. It has helped me go faster, throw more spray and has turned my average boards magic! #MinkSystems”
