They use words like "comms" and "sitrep" and are always hoping to be asked to help out with the Army or a police search so they can help set up a mobile HQ
Re: Just general surfing stuff
I think my neighbours eye roll may have something to do with this.

They love meetings too. They fucking LOVE the new modern meeting via Zoom or whatever.

My mum made me do my SLS certificate then bronze so she’d let me surf on my own.
Complete waste of time.
While the technology may be different those personalities Nick describes are exactly the same.
I got a lot more people out of trouble at the beach surfing/beach going than I did on patrol (zero times haha).

3 of us 15 year olds, on patrol, completely flat day at a south gippsland beach, no rips to speak of, - a family comes up and the mum asks us where the safest place to swim is.
My mate (laughing, shrugging): ummm, this whole beach
Other nerdy mate chimes in with his best professional voice: no, it’s best to swim between the flags as we’ve selected it as the safest spot on the beach to swim and of course, we’re here to help if anything goes wrong.
Then me and mate 1 pissed ourselves laughing.

Fingal used to have the youngest membership in Australia. I think the oldest member was about 21 but most of the crew were in High School. A lot of my mates from Murbah were in it so they could sleep at the beach. I had been in Cudgen Headland SLSC but I would go over for a hang. Sometimes just about everyone was tripping on shrooms on Saturday night.
Sunday Patrol might be two fifteen year olds.

Have been consistently watching the daily Bali surf videos and they put out a September Compilation with a wave for every day.
Pretty ridiculously constant surf.

Ever since I spent a year there in 1982 its been the only place that I really thought was so incredibly consistent that I lost interest in surfing anywhere else.

Well it's settled then, next Realsurf barbecue on the Bukit.
Cranked can hammer out the details.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Damn right! It will be at Made Bentil's place, right on the cliff top overlooking Secrets, Temples and the Bombie with the Peak and Racetrack just off to the right.
Its come a long way from when his old man would wave his machete at us to keep us away from the cows when they were mating, and its start with a few bean bags on the cliff edge with an esky full beer.

Hmmm, perhaps I could have phrased that somewhat differently.

Count me in. Mating cows may be a thing of the past but there's still plenty of room for vigorous outdoor batting. Surely.

Offie, cows still mate....usually with bulls though. The small elegant Balinise Cows are no exception.
