Steve. Aside from the extra edge with paddling, Wouldn’t the DS be a little too full volumed for the ments? Overall, theyre not slab waves where you need to get in early as possible, nor are they deep water bombie type waves that you’ve gotta hunt down over open water.

Wouldn’t a finer outline and rail with less overall foam work better? A fine scalpel feel as opposed to a board that will sit more out of the water ?
I would think so.....but look at that 8-10foot wave today.
You ain't riding that on a 6'1".

Oh ok. Just saw that. Point taken. Wasn’t talking a 6’1 though.
Still in the upper 6” range but refined. Actually big thunders or scarecrows would probs be a good wave for the desert storm

Back zip?
His post says chest zip.
Or are you suggesting a back zip wouldn't fail.if so, I'm with you on that.
If you can't reach around (😀) and pull up a back zip, you shouldn't be surfing.
If you can't put on a zipper less full suit, you're a fcuken idiot.
:D
I've seen a few guys getting into and out of them.
All I can say is, why?
Because they're super free to move in, way easier to paddle in, lighter, and in every way better

Actually I don't know why you'd ever wear a full suit on the Sunny Coast in any case

zipperless wetsuits are the greatest ever.

no velcro bits to cling onto and deteriorate the wetsuit. no zips to get jammed... but the real revelation is wearing the things. those two big sewn on back/ shoulder panels are the greatest thing in wetsuit mobility and flexibility ever. the fact they lend themselves to keeping water out and not overloading the seams to do so, is just gravy.

You guys who surf regularly at a high level might notice a diff but I doubt I would, so last years back zip at 50% off will do me fine lol.

I don't. Maybe 5 times a year when I'm out at first light mid winter and temps around 6 or 7 plus wind chill.
Geez. I hardly wore one I Sydney.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Fair enough.

I know that point of view but I cycle through so many different boards I'm not sure it matters.

I do believe you are better off tuning right into a certain board for a certain amount of time until the neuro-muscular pathways are embedded.

Yesterday having a chat to a young guy who was testing out a brand new desert storm in surf it wasn't designed for. Said he had to try it as he'd just gotten it. Bought for large Bells.

Asked how it was going and he said it felt very smooth into waves.

It was a 7'6. Didn't look that large.

I got my 2+1 delivered yesterday from Crescent. I’m mostly keen to ride it as a single, also wanna give it a go with a couple of side fins if I can find some FCS that would suit. It can also be ridden as a quad but that isn’t to high up in the priorities at the moment.
Question is. What’s the best single for me to buy? I haven’t ridden a single since about 1985 and know bugger all about them because I’ve never ridden an alternative board other than an MR super twin years ago.
It’s got an old school fin box and is 5’10 x 19 1/2 x 2 3/8. It’s about 30 litres.
