Re: Just general surfing stuff
First principles then:
The Lennox report is just the forecast swell as verifiable by your nearest buoy. It has nothing to do with wave height at Lennox so is useless as a surf report. Knowing that there will be swell of a certain size may, however, allow a person with some experience of extrapolating wave height from actual buoy data to be forearmed
The ballina report forecasts the swell (identical to the Lennox forecast) and also has a stab at the height of the waves on the beach, verifiable by eyeball checks. This would be the one to focus on I would say if you want to prove that their forecasts are worthless

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Can he just mention whether they use wave face height or kilojoules?
I should point out that Coastalwatch was calling Bondi and The Bra 1-2 and 2-3 today.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Well if you’re looking for a breaking wave estimate, may I point you in the direction of surf forecast.com. That gives you wave height and kilojoules
Re: Just general surfing stuff
How's the surf in Wales today GSTQ? Spectacularly flat here in NC.
BTW I use swell info. It's okay.

Magic Seaweed's blurb on NSW.
Can you spot the error Godsave?
"ABOUT NEW SOUTH WALES
New South Wales, home to Sydney and Byron Bay is an epicentre of world surfing. South-east facing, the coastline picks up any west swells and some north-easterly during summer, including the occasional cyclone swell. In the main south-east swells only arrive during the winter. Dominant winds are cross-shore from the south apart from in summer when it switches to the north. Byron is famed for its long sandy point and the region boasts a profusion of sandy beaches and reefs. Sydney is of course famed for city surfing at its many beaches. First surfed by Duke Kahanamoku in 1914 surfing is extremely popular with an estimated 350,000 surfers spread along its 750 mile coastline. Water temperatures vary from 19 to 25°C or 66 to 77°F."

Re: Just general surfing stuff
nah, I'm watching small chopes and trying to amuse myself.
it is a pretty funny error though.
maybe swells being generated in Lake Eyre and propagating west across the mountains?
Or is that another "user generated" error and not the fault of MSW?

I'm loving the arcane exchanges. It's like Nietzsche and Kierkegaard arguing over whether seven foot waves exist.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
They've also underestimated the length of the NSW coastline by almost 600 miles.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
They could be using nautical miles or those mystical magic seaweed miles.
Either way, they're quite inaccurate.

If it says beer on the bottle I expect a mouthful of beer when I swig not chocolate milkshake because some bloke in Wales reckons it's "user error".
