From Coastalwatch, good story from Tom Carroll about being 12 years old and being unexpectedly tasked with taking MP surfing.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Some questions on Tassie.
Planning a trip there in October. Mix of surfing and nature/sightseeing.
Board size is limited to 6'0 only as Jetstar only allow for 6'2 incl. board bag. - therefore board size dictating a viable upper-limit of wave size as being a stormy/shifty 5-6 ft, or super-clean-and-orderly 6-8ft, then right down to 1 ft peelers.
Will surf either/all sides of the island, as I'll hire a campervan.
So. Given the upper reaches of wave size I'll be able to tackle, and the season (spring) - where are the "must surf" or "keep a watch on" spots that I should be focusing on. ?
(( Yes, the fun is in discovering for yourself and all that - but I've only got a week, so I don't want to waste time scoping out the whole island either. ))
Also, the "must sees" for natural beauty etc. ?
Any help appreciated.

Was supposed to be in Tassie this weekend but had to go to a funeral. Put off till November. Too cold for me unless perfect and with a 3-4ml wetsuit boots and hood.
Put your big boy pants on
I mean, tastebuds? WGAF?

Hatchnam, maybe you could put your enquiry in Ask Braithy.

Braithy will be your best bet, but we went there a couple of years back. Just tourist stuff. Absolutely beautiful place. Obvious stuff. Cradle Mountain (walk around the lake). Freycinet Peninsula. Great beaches, not just Wineglass Bay. Stanley. Port Arthur area. Do the night tour.

Oh, and fish and chips at Dunalley. A must do.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Pretty much the same. More wind chill though.

Matt Warshaw on twitter has recommended this article on the 2013 Mavericks Invitational.
It is a lovely piece of writing by Alice Gregory. 5 stars from me.
