Well fuck!! I am looking at a far far distant prog chart which is making an outrageous claim on behalf of a tropical cyclone, which it reckons will form in the north Coral Sea before parading itself down a line about 500km off the Australian east coast, intensifying all the way to the Goldie before continuing south and slowly weakening but not much

This all between Dec 6 and Dec 11.

Nick or anyone else. Any insight into DHD crowdfunding strategy. Read they (he) is looking at expansion into the Thai epoxy markets, Mick F a master designer if Handley gets hit by a bus and a few other underwhelming things.

Is he broke? Does this have a BASE surfboards ending. WTF is going on?

DHD has raised money this way before, I guess it must have worked.

Fact is the Gold Coast high performance short board market is hopelessly oversaturated right now. You can get quite a bargain off the big name brands if you play your cards right. Maybe cashflow is momentarily sucky.

He may have a cash flow shortage. Can't buy materials or pay wages. Not exactly a cash rich business. Low margins and god knows what else on the marketing budget.

Just read a little bit. DHD have taken out a significant loan to invest in softboards. Hmm.

Anyway last year EBIT was 900k BEFORE abnormals (one off operating costs) and god knows what they amounted to. He's done pretty well coming back from liquidation 7 years ago.

So far they have raised 65,000 in capital (well below target)

It's a tough game is the surfboard industry

Dunno, but it's hard to invest with a guy who was involved in the BASE fiasco and kind of sold Maurice Cole down the river.

Its interesting for sure. He must be machine shaping already though, so is it just that he wants to do it in Asia? For cheaper labor I'm guessing ?

A container of Thai-made DHD's is on the way. Similar costs to retailers as Firewires. Assume these are the Epoxy ones.

Basically, they see a bit of a boom coming with the Olympics, wavepools and more surfing interest in Asia. Plus, DHD have bought Modom, a softboard and surf accessory business. I think the money is to tool up production capacity and invest in product development and marketing in epoxy boards, softboards, boards designed for wavepools, clothing and surf accessories.

I won't, but I could imagine throwing in $250 for a bit of fun. I imagine there are plenty of better investments from a purely money perspective.
