Some great waves and surfing at Cloudbreak this morning.
This 3 and a half minute summary is just a teaser and is far too compressed to show any of the rides featured to their best advantage. Gives you an idea though if you missed it.

Gerry Lopez. A pleasant clip from a 1972 movie.
The last wave, starting at 2:54, proves that Lopez is the coolest surfer ever.

Jerry was going backhand in Big Wednesday.
Back when people could and had to body surf.

Of all boards I'd be prepared to slap a grand down on, the 6'2 v4 is looking pretty tempting. I might start turning up the dial on gumtree trolling.

Better late than never huh? I've been surfing one for a while and dig it. Got it set up as a quad as I was struggling to get it dialled as a thruster. The straighter rail line took a bit of getting used to as I was bogging it a lot especially on that first pump. Really need to nurse it a bit through turns but in saying that it goes great in more down-the-line surf.

Just read ahead and saw that swvic's got a pu one. Probably find you've bought one if I read to the end but... Mines a Firewire with FST construction which I quite like, and I find it's nothing like the surftech or tufflite tech. None of the corkiness of those.

4 months to reply to a post. Might be some kind of record huh?

Thanks for the reply. It's sounding more like a board for faster flatter lines and point breaks, and much less of a board for typical beach break conditions.

Yep. I'm looking for something a little more narrower in the tail for peakier beach break stuff. But in saying that I have been enjoying the hell out of it in everything from slop to good conditions.

I just bought a board off gumtree, it's got that spongey grip stuck all over the deck as well as a tail pad.
Hw do you get it off? Peel it, scrape it?

Ahh You graduated from the legion school of "everything can be fixed with a hammer" home repairs.
I got it all off, hair drier didn't help, it just made the stuff weaker so it kept breaking. Used one of those decal scrapers but it took ages.
Still gotta get all the gummy glue off.

Turps or wax remover or eucalyptus oil. Soak a paper towel in turps and lay to over the board for 5 min, scrape etc,

iggy, I know I keep banging on about it but it might be worth your while trying to demo the Weekend Warrior if you can. I surf mostly beachbreaks, particularly during the summer, and just love it. I surf it as a thruster and find it incredibly versatile - I agree with pretty much everything that's written here (comments section excepted, of course) so won't bother rewriting it my own words

There's not much vid of it being ridden but this shows it pretty well, with the usual caveat of it being ridden by a pro so only marginally relevant to the everyday battler. (It's the green board, set up as a thruster)
