Checkout the firewire site and find a board that looks closest to your shape.
For example there is the Firewire Dominator which has the same dimensions that you put up and the volume is 38.1 litres.

Is there an equation out there that can accurately calculate surfboard volume from given dimensions? I've got a board that has no volume amount written on there, and trying to work it out. I found this formula on google:

½ L x W x T + (10 for each inch over 6’) divide by 60.02 for liters

Applying it to the board in question:

(6'2" x 20 3/4" x 2 5/8")

37" x 20.75" x 2.625" + 20 / 60.02

= 33.9 Litres

Seems a little low. I tried it on one of my other boards (5'11", which has volume of 29.4L), and it came up 2L smaller, unless the above equation is catered only for boards exceeding 6ft.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Dane Reynolds 'A Huge Disappointment', claims Angry Surf Forum Mob.

MON FEB 15TH 2010 – Surf blog enthusiasts worldwide have been driven to rage by the fact that Dane Reynolds has failed to blow their minds with a downright freaky online clip for the second week in a row.

Several surf sites have had their servers jammed by a torrent of bitter personal attacks on all facets of Reynolds' character, his surfing and sexual orientation.

“I'm angry, confused and let down by this prick Reynolds” writes Bugalugs72 in a tirade typical of many on primesurf.com. “So much for cutting edge surfing... the latest Dane Reynolds clip is weeks old. I've viewed it half a dozen times now and am no longer impressed.”

It's a sentiment echoed by DaneSux on the futuristically groovy site spitesurf.com,“Safety turn after safety turn – I don't care if they're performed above the lip – It's all just just so PREDICTABLE after four or five views. Reynolds is a joke and I hold him personally responsible for dragging surfing kicking and screaming back into the dark ages.

Not only is the former poster boy for avante-garde performance now universally loathed for the recent drought of mind-blowing freakiness, Surf media analysts have noticed an online trend towards pre-emptive hating, and cite dangerously renegade sexmysurf.com, where the hapless Reynolds is acting as springboard in a discussion that's officially attracting a gazillion new posts per minute.

“Fuck EVERYONE,” writes self-described 'maverick' blog commenter BlinkyBalls on sexmysurf.com “in particular, fuck the ASP tour, the rebel tour, the judges, the caterers, the security staff, the mags, the locals, the tourists, the blow-ins, Mum, Dad, my little sister, Fanning, Slater, Reynolds. Fuck em ALL.

“But most of all, FUCK the bloke who's gonna surpass Dane Reynolds. Whoever comes along in a blaze of glory, doing things we never imagined, well, I'm over him and his late-2011-style conservatism already.

As the goldmine goes to press with this story, Dane Reynolds' management has offered an emotional apology to the entire surfing world for “Dane's disappointing inability to blow minds with something crazy and new over the last couple of weeks.”

“Dane knows he has a lot of soul searching to do” reads the press release, “and personally feels he deserves every well-considered barb his online supporters have skewered him with.”

Wooden board "kits" are a joke. If you are expecting to build a board like an old airfix model Spitfire you will be left scratching your head even as you open the box. Mine was built from a "Grain" kit, based in Maine in the U.S.A., but supplied from the Oz distributor in the Illawarra. The box contained averything you need to build the board parts wise, but was really just a box of glue and sticks. The centre rib and cross braces are machine cut, but thats it. You will be able to make it and surf it, but it is very time consuming and requires a fairly high degree of woodworking skill and surfboard shaping experience if is going to work as intended. There is also the need for specialised tools like spokeshaves and handplanes and various timber clamps etc. Don't be put off though, you will derive massive satisfaction and cred beyond reckoning just for having a go.

What do the kits set you back spork?
How long for glueing do you reckon?
What glue do they use?
What finish do you put on them?

The kit cost about a grand, local ones are much cheaper but you don't get all the stuff required, just the wood. Sikaflex for the frame cos you want it to flex. The rest is gluid up with waterproof pva. The gluing is time consuming, have a look at the thread links the Trev posted for all aspects of the build, including a comprehensive look at materials. I will say that the Grain build manual is very good and covers all you need to know about building a board. I have built three boards since the kit one, all of my own design with no kit. The Grain kits come with BoteCote epoxy and 4oz glass, i highly reccomend this stuff for wooden boards. Again, check the threads for the full story, including how they surf.
