Future fins don’t go on sale very often but there’s a few decent sets half price at surf stitch today.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Mrs Wyre and I bought a Ford Escort panel van in Darwin to drive to Sydney (25 yrs ago), which was pretty nuts. It had a surfboard with it, which was useless for ages obviously- we went right through the desert, inland Qld and up to Cape Trib and then slowly cruised down.
Someone saw the board up near Cairns and mentioned the fact that Agnes Waters was the first spot where the reef ended and surf could be found.
Imagine my surprise to rock up there and find waves much like this. I was pretty green to surfing and just assumed it was like that all the time!
The feeling of being able to swim and surf after a month of wet season crocodile/jelly fish denial was a great moment that still stays with me.
Awesome spot.

Yeah I know it well, it's where I learned to surf.
We have a place at 1770.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Nice article about Crescent by some guy called Nick Carroll on Surfline. It really doesn’t need the publicity though.

Just read it- hilarious reading Carroll now romanticising the hipster/longboard scene he pilloried so relentlessly.
Obvs Surfline knows where it's bread is buttered.

Oh, so the story was just to advertise the webcam.

Most likely.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I like Crescent. But I reckon the surfcam would rarely inspire anybody to take a long drive there for the waves.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
It inspires the modern surfer, foamy.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
You are probably right. The modern surfer wants somewhere safe and cruisy, where you rarely have to duck dive.

Crescent is being positioned as the new Byron, so a surfcam is part of the essential infrastructure that modern hipster surfers expect.

Which would make Nicks article make even more sense and have more of a whiff about it.

He doesn't happen to be spruiking a real estate development at Agnes by any chance?
Or Surfline opening a new camera there?
