Checking out the beach cams…..as usual at 6:57am the surfs crap and there’s over 30 surfers out just up in Kiddies Corner on foamies plus multiple surfers down the rest of the beach. Easy 100 people out. Plus heaps of Clubbies on paddle boards and skis. Joggers, swimmers, beach walkers. Everyone having a bash before work.

Surf report for a mate in Kuta

Just looking at Ulus, glass, head high, Racetrack is good but crowded. Two at Temples, perhaps a little big for it, and a bit shallow. Swell on the rise.

Starting to be, yesterday there were three out at Temples and they came in as I watched.

The show moves further out when it gets bigger and breaks on a different part of the reef. I never really think of Temples when it's bigger.

Cheers.
Never surfed any of the Uluwatu breaks.
Mainly surfed Geger when I’ve passed through Bali.

Only stayed at Nusa Dua the first time we took the kids over. Never surfed it though.
I’ve surfed Green Balls, Ulus, Balangan, Kuta Reef, Kuta Legian beach breaks, Canggu, Balian, Medewi, Hyatt Reef, Serengan and Keramas. Always seem to surf somewhere different each time we go.

Ben Gravy was at Bondi as part of his 7 Seas in 7 Days Project. Just saw the video. Suitably crap surf in Kiddies Corner. He was shocked at how busy the surf was at 6am.

Bought this today for $400. A bit overpriced but looks in good condition for its age. 5’10 and shaped by Terry “Snake” Bishop. The best shaper out of G&S IMO.
I was only ever semi sponsored with swaps but Snake shaped my boards and I loved hanging out while he shaped them and then I’d dodge the paedophile owner on the way out who always wanted to “fit” me with G&S thongs. It’s a bit older than any board I had from him. I only got thrusters with fixed fins ‘cause there wasn’t any FCS in the 80’s.

I had one of his boards. Mates used to call it The Bubble. It was way fat and round but it had a pointy..ish nose. Single fin…I ended up making it a twin y with some classic backyard butchery.

Kelly’s new wave pool looks good. Pity about the human rights issues over there. Wonder how many locals will make the tour when it’s run there.

What's the deal with FCS Tool less fins, anybody try them yet?

Seems to me that they could come out too easily.

Same technology as the FCS 2 system, which can be knocked out with difficulty.

I'm a little skeptical, don't want to lose a fin.

They still have the pin at the front of the fin and removal requires lifting the base forward, so it'd be difficult (but not impossible) to lose a fin.
Heres a video showing the process ...
