Lucky Al is the Buggs Arico of Vietnam
Please don't say that :(
It wasn’t meant as a jibe, Al. If Tom reckons Buggs is cool, that’s good enough for me
And there was the whimsy in the vid

It has just occurred to me that Rip Curl must be doing quite well now. Here in Thailand "surf" fashion is getting huge (along with learning to surf (hey the activity itself!) and "surf/skate"). Imagine if in China and India it gets huge too. Those fat-cat rag merchants must be rubbing their palms and snorting their powder faces off in high glee!

This is pretty funny:

About Rip Curl
Rip Curl is a company for, and about, the crew on The Search. The products we make, the events we run, the riders we support and the people we reach globally, are all part of the Search that Rip Curl is on.

That looks like a really dumb place to build
I agree. But the angle of the beach suggests that the wave exposure wouldn't be angled directly at the resort. And it does appear to be a reflective beach, ie steep and less susceptible to erosion.
I'd be more worried about flooding/water from the landward side, which is what I think you're seeing on those pics.

And the potential port development:

Its okay you over compensating small person, I'll happily stand by my comments about Curren being on the spectrum ... on the Buggs Arico front, I don't have an opinion, nor do I care.

Maybe you should consider being somewhat more precise when dishing out random opinions ... confusion may have got us here, but it won't get us back out.

Steady on, Yuke. Didn't read it that way.
I never really liked Currens style when he was on the tour. Sort of low set with a wide stance and stumpy legs.
Now though I love watching his free surfing. Makes every other old pro look like a try hard. Also intriguing choices of surf craft and a wry sense of irony in his relationship with the surf industry. He may be an insufferable Cnut for all I know or a fantastic guy but he seems to deal with it on his own terms.

I guess the advantage I have here is knowing both of the people in question, one for about five years or so and the other since he was 14, so it's not exactly random

If you're judging Curren's place on the autism spectrum by seeing five or ten seconds of a heavily edited surf clip, that's pretty random!
