Re: Teahupoo Contest
without taking anything away from today, which is fcuken great shit, I feel the real main event will happen around Aug 31, when Teahupo'o is forecast to wear a 12-15' SW groundswell. On this day, fongss will step forward on behalf of all disaffected Sunny Coast expat goofyfooters and show the world why professional surfing sucks and is a hoax.
Re: Teahupoo Contest
I doubt it as they are up against each other next heat
Re: Teahupoo Contest
If you had of said before the event that Bede would make the semi's and Dion Atkinson the quarters, you would have been called nuts. Really surprised at how well they have performed. Same with Kolohe.

It looked like Andy v Bruce in a freesurf.tonks wrote:How about that monster he took off on this morning?! Would have been a 12pt ride if he made it out.alakaboo wrote:Owen fcuking Wilson.

Re: Teahupoo Contest
JJF's last wave called a 9.87??? Sure it was big and a nice steep drop, though he never disappeared behind the curtain. The commentators were jizzing all over it as well
No doubt the guy has balls of steel and talent to boot, but I'm sure even he thought it was overcooked.

Re: Teahupoo Contest
Is that the highest combined score for a heat ever? (JJF vs KS)
edit: and KS with 4 heats over 19

Re: Teahupoo Contest
90k people watching.
Sorry, 89,999. Fong IS NOT INTERESTED.
Wonder how the cashflow compares for this event, given they are making bupkis from local spectators.

Re: Teahupoo Contest
He really stepped it up a notch in the final and Kelly made uncharacteristic mistakes. Well deserved win by Medina.
JJF vs KS was something special.

Re: Teahupoo Contest
that was the world's smallest trophy for winning anything. ever.
Re: Teahupoo Contest
Don't get me wrong, I think Medina deserved to win the heat.
But in the context of the scores they'd already given out Slater deserved to get the score on his last wave.
John John did too.
