Definately agree with the top two. Its ridiculous down the west coast of SA. Some fantastic waves, but way too many sharks

morteon island is full of sharks. so is fingal and around cook island.

Oh, I forgot Box Head (NSW) - and it's a long way from help.
Shipsterns Bluff - if the wave doesn't kill you the sharks will.

alot of sharks hang around newy harbour birubi and stockten at dawn and dusk around the two ship recks and rocks are very sharky

i suggest everyone warns everone they know to stay away from the following places. Hundreds of sharks are swarming them

1 Fairy Bower
2 Manly
3 Queenscliff
4 Freshie
5 Curly
6 Longy (and all surrounding reefs)
7 DY (especially the point)
8 Narra
9 Avalon
10 Palmie

I took a joy flight over South Straddie a few years back and the pilot pointed out heaps of sharks in a fairly small amount of time.

I'd even say there's more sharks in general in QLD than SA, just that ours (SA) are generally bigger and hungrier... Lived in QLD for almost 4 years and in that time 3x shark sightings (Straddie - small something, S.port Seaway - pack of 4-5 small bronzies, Narrowneck - 8 foot bronzie). Been living and surfing SA most of my life and I'm yet to see a shark in the surf, yet... thank fek for that!

Hey MG, that whole coastline is hell sharky, no wonder with pristine reef out front and that whopping big bight behind. Surfed a bit where ex marks the spot, and got some freaky stories, and as you say, just yak to the fishos. Done some diving their as well. Whole NW coastline is set up for noahs.

Ever surfed around Phillip Island. Chunka land between Bass Straight and a wide open bay. Big seal and penguin colonies. Seals in the surf fairly regularly, do the maths on that shit.

Not discounting that some places are sharkier than others, Whites are migratory and can pop up any where.

I reckon Indo wouldn't have many. Saw a Catalyst doco last year how their reefs have been stripped of sharks to supply the Asian shark fin market. Science has no idea what impact removing a top order predator will have on aquatic ecosystems.
