Bennett's board for Barack !

I heard on the ABC this morning that Bennett Surfboards of Brookvale was commissioned by Tony Abbott to create a custom board for Barack Obama and with just 7 days notice.

It is a 9'6" mal with a custom Air Force One design and must have cost a fortune.

However IMO it is an uncharacteristically clever move by Abbott: Obama surfs (bodysurfing at least), was born in Hawaii, and Bennett Surfboards are in Abbott's electorate and what better iconically Australian present than a surfboard (beats a stuffed toy koala). Proves that even the crappiest politician can make one good decision.

I can visualise Obama getting top-security surfing lessons in the gentle and uncrowded (!) Waikiki waves.
