Parko didn't get an interference against him as Slater didn't 'intentionally' run him over with a slow takeoff.

(in response to brendo) To me, his dive after running over Flores looked like a soccer dive as well. I mean, he clearly hit him, it was clearly avoidable, I'm sure it was enough to make him fall off so it was executed perfectly, he was signalling to the judges to make sure they knew he was critically interfered with, but the icing on the cake reminded me of a soccer player arching their back in deadly pain, clutching their almost-broken-in-seven-places-leg.

jimmy, he could have dropped in and tried to outsurf him. But instead he did a super-dodgy late takeoff and hit Flores to turn it into an intentional (on his part) interference. Slater took his priority and surfed it fair and square. A comparison would've been like if Slater took off and went left and hit Parko intentionally to halve his score.

Totally agree. D'Souza barely missed a turn in what is a pretty tricky day and he expects us to believe he can't negotiate a basic foamy take-off?! As Flores intimated, it's why no one can stand D'Souza.

they need to re assess the priority rule so that you can't burn someone halfway down the point. maybe only priority if you are both in the take off zone, or once someone has done a bottom turn, its too late to use priority.

They have re-assessed the priority rule on these grounds: you can still assert priority as a blocking move down the line, but you don't get priority back afterward. It's kind of a one-shot deal.

Plenty of silent blocking went on yesterday by the way, but Jeremy was the only guy to push it beyond breaking point. Silly move by a frustrated surfer.
