^^^ Yeah maybe, but then again surfers evolve their skills and their lives change as they grow, that's really what you want to report on, the changes and movements, both in surfing performance and life, which are plentiful in those typical pro years between 18 and 30-odd.

Especially if you have all these extra dimensions etc. I mean, parallel universes almost! You know, those universes where Tyler Wright and Carissa Moore are sorting out the world title but aren't 5'11" and blonde. Oh no hang on that's this universe.

I was at both those events, aaronn. I stand by what swvic agreed to.
FWIW I think that Steph has been left behind a bit by Carissa and Tyler (maybe even Sally Fitz) in terms of technical skill and aggression, but I still prefer to watch Steph's surfing.

Not that I overlooked that Nick, just jumping ahead of myself as usual into murky realms I s'pose..
So the writing too has to evolve and change with these movements.

Aaron, you do yourself great disservice when you get petulant. .

I got out of the surf this morning at about 7.30 am. It was 15°
There's a chick (well, about 25-30) getting a longboard off her car in th ecar park. As I was driving away, she's walking down to the steps, board under her arm - in a bikini.
Geez, I feel like a wuss.
Didn't see her surf today but I have before. She's OK and maybe not as hot as Steph, but not too bad either.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Aren’t Roxy just trying to sell their products to women? How is that sexist?

I doubt there are enough core female surfers or aspirational female surfers to uphold a product line. If not, they may need to appeal to the more general aspirations of their target market (young women) - whatever they may be...

Has anyone else thought this,"Controversy", was all part of Roxy's plan to begin with?

They've certainly got plenty of extra coverage from it.

jesus Fcuken christ, what is it about A, B and C you're all still battling to grasp?

The Roxy trailer thing wasn't just some random bit of clothing company advertising.

It was a PROMOTION for a women's world championship surfing event. You know, where the best women surfers in the world do their best to win a world championship.

THIS is why so many surfing women, and non surfing women for that matter, are cheesed off about it -- because it replaces athletic aspiration and achievement with soft core faceless cheese. It replaces five world titles with a bum.

THAT's the signal the promo sends to hundreds, nay thousands of stoked little surfer girls for whom Stephanie's a role model.

Hopefully they just brush it off, but you know what, the odds aren't super great of that happening. Young girls surf on a knife edge. It's all fine when they're 9 years old and out in a shorie with their Dad. By the time they're 12 or 13, secondary sexual characteristics begin to show, and they're entering a largely male environment, exposed to weird shit -- some of it subtle, some not so -- that most of us men never encounter.

It is a tough girl who makes it through that scrutiny to the more confident and powerful late teen years, which is why I generally have a lot of respect for the top girls. They've had to show a lot more courage than any of the boys.

I hate that girls give up surfing at that younger age because of overt and covert male sexual scrutiny in the lineup, and that Roxy promo didn't fcuken help.

The connest won't be on today even though today is the first day of the waiting period, 'cause it's flat as a tack in Biarritz. In fact it's probably gonna be flat as a tack for the entire waiting period.

Sure, but one can always serve as a bad example! So he is providing a sevice to me, confirming that I was doing the right thing by adding him on my "foes" list.

Aaah, so much better now.... :-o

Yes, I do also think that there is "no bad publicity" in advertising. Brilliant marketing, it's even in the useless local "Gold Coast Bulletin" on the front page today. All for free! And every time you or I touch the keyboard about it, more free advertising....
