So the comp starts Sat.......thought it started Sun.

Sat looks more solid from the E'ly swell currently generated by a pretty damm good looking fetch north of the North Island.

If the bank at Snapper was in shape, we'd be looking at excellent 4-5ft surf.

Craig at SN has flagged Kirra for the weekend.......I dunno, Kirra at 3ft looks to be too bits and pieces.

They have a tower set up at Greenmount ........The Little Marley/Rainbow section still looks the pick of the bunch to me.

With some SE winds on the cards the bank could make grade during next week.

I'm not sure the bank has a hope in hell of filling, looking at the forecast maps. It's a really deep hole at froggies, and froggies is your gauge.

I do agree though, Kirra needs 5 foot before it starts to happen. Maybe they'll wait?

I very, very much doubt that.

With SE winds and an E'ly groundswell they will be heavily disposed to run.

Braithy, I saw the Superbank yesterday with complete slop on it and it was totally surfable.

With offshore winds and a clean swell it could look a whole lot better.

They pumped 40 thousand cubic metres in Jan.

If they got 5-10 thousand cubic metres pumped their troubles would all be over my son.

Craig didn't flag Kirra, he mentioned it to show the grading in size, same as he would with any SE QLD swell forecast i.e inner points and outer points.

Reckon they're gonna be struggling to fill the hole myself, but you never know, put Alakaboo and Helmut Rangger together, motivate them with some cool Quik baksheesh and anything could happen.

I've never seen Craig mention Kirra in the SN QuikPro f/cast before. He specifically mentioned Kirra, not inside and outside points.

A question was directed at Ben to see if he had any inside knowledge that Kirra was being considered.

To which he replied "yes".

Thats flagging Stu.

Dunno why you're being weird about it. Is it supposed to be hush hush?

Not being weird at all, Craig also mentioned D'bah in a completely unflaggable way. Both places were mentioned simply because organisers would consider running it there. Perhaps we shouldn't mention anything besides Snapper...?

Inner and outer points is mentioned in our general forecasts because there are many points (Burleigh, Snapper, Pass, Lennox) but this forecast dealt with just one point break.

Ben said 'yes' to the question because he thought it was funny what people were interpreting from our notes. There's nothing more to it than that, besides I'm supposed to be the conspiracy theorist here.

Ha! At this stage I'm going up on Thursday and hanging for a few days, maybe just till Sunday - can't leave the family for too long at the moment.

I'll drop you a line when I'm there.

If they really wanted to get serious, they'd go logging at Caba.

Latest model runs are looking pretty fcuking sweet.

Nice little southerly surge Fri/Sat. If that gets the longshore drift happening they could conceivably pump all weekend.

We might see fresh fruit replace rotting vegetables.

It starts tomorrow ... plus fours and dimpled balls.

Thursday is reserved for backslapping ... hugs and guffawing laughter.

Surfing starts on friday with the trials and tribulations ... all day.

Main event penciled in for a saturday kickoff.

Not sure what day Shearer is doing his interview with Westerly and Tommy P ... but I'm hope to film it on the 7D with hot shoe microphone. Westerly is going to look a million bucks with bookends like Steve and Tommy. I've revising the catering ... three long-necks seems inadequate and would definitely lack mustard cutting ability ... maybe a bottle of Bundy and some Green Ginger Wine ... but I won't make the final call just yet. Thinking of wearing some happy pants for the occasion ... if I can track some down ... happy pants ... Oakley frogskins and a black sleeveless choose life t-shirt.
The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.

Had one air comp that somehow managed to look better than it was. Which was still horrible looking.

Charts are going from sweet to fcuking insane.

I see a potential finish at 6ft Kirra.

Braithy,I'm averaging 5000 words a day right now plus trying to edit a 50 thousand word book, plus trying to keep a marriage together and be present for my kids.

Then there's the movie comp, and one far-off day in a glittering future I imagine going surfing or fishing again too.

I just don't have time to headbutt some clunky seppo site that won't co-operate with me.

SE winds are now pretty certain. It's just the timing of the change thats up for grabs. GFS is insisting on a small cut-off low forming in the trough line between the two high pressure systems in the lower Tasman during tomorrow. That beefs up the SE flow in the lower Tasman, and increases both the SE wind field extending up the coast with the ridge and also the swell associated with it.

Snapper loves that SE surge as it grooms the bank, especially with an E'ly groundswell in the mix. If they could pump on the back of it things could change very, very quickly.

They pumped 40thousand cubic metres in Jan. Go look at Froggies......try and imagine ten or so olympic swimming pools worth of sand coming straight into that little cove and then being swept around the corner into the Snapper behind the rock lineup.
It doesn't take long.

5000 a day average? Does that get self-edited and trimmed?
You writing a novel?

I recall Robert Hughes saying he pumped out about 1500 a day when writing his books. i thought that was going pretty hard.
