Dead still here till about 2pm. A certain island right had some decent 6 ft sets and some nice walls. Swell was relatively organised, until now. Looking good over the next few days down here.

In the deep south the northern side of headlands are reacting strongly but they have the full onshore catastrophe, the little known favourite will not show anything with this swell but the southern end with the rivermouth should kick off some mackers, now we await the wind verdict :~

Watch some euros wanting the surfing experience try to paddle in against the outflow from the river after high tide, almost tragic had to direct them in across the river like a traffic cop, turns out they were afraid of the white water, both on potato chip boards and exhausted to vomiting.
They got their experience :-)

Always like those little lefts at the north end of Bondi in a non south swell with some size so it just peaks and lines up. So apparently did every other surfer in the Eastern Suburbs.  A bit full and way too hard to get a wave but you could get up a bit of speed if you got the right one. Fun way to end Aus Day long weekend. Hows the wind. Pretty well offshore for two days.

Nice. Was it a little on the 'pink' side?

Absolute disaster.

It'll be months before sandbanks re-organise after this battering.

Bluewater: gone.

Sandbanks: Gone.

A six month rebuild after the June Fiji bank-buster gone in one night.

A coast hugging tropical low was the worst case scenario and we got it.
Well back to fishing Steve for another 6 months. What tactics do you use for the Jewies up there. Have you jagged a biggun yet?

I hear ya loud and clear Steve. Ossie is a big fat turd!!!

70 knt winds yesterday is pretty impressive. Pretty much a Cat 1 cyclone on SE Qld yesterday.
Watching the channel nine nightly weather....tweed buoy had it's biggest recorded wave at 24 metres. Larger ones at 12-14 metres.
Too bad it was massive washing machine.
Edit: and still is...now there's the runoff from the flooding to avoid.

Just went past that little marked reef where people fish in the middle of the harbour off Watsons Bay, the swell coming in the heads was so long-lined and at such a direction that a right hander is breaking there!

Sow and pigs reef. I watched a few sketchy lefts unfold out there last night while tooling about, surveying the maelstrom. Love wild nights on the harbour. kinda 'owned' it last night. . Some crackers were coming in wide off south head, the right off the rocks under the mac light and along towards lady jane beach. Perfect for nude surfing.
Not surprismgly, a few out on dusk at Nielsen park too.
i almost got myself washed up onto the net there this morning. Bit before first light, couldn't quite see the wave till it started breaking just off the port hand mark, all of a sudden whooshka, pitched me up and pushed me in towards the net.
Would have had a tuff time tryin to explain that mishap.

Agreed.
The chart on Coastwatch only shows a paltry 15 metres. :~
