unbelievable and he only got a little over a seven for it.
btw, the vid shows two separate waves, his seven was pretty much just that one massive hack, the down the line segment was an earlier ride.

They call it ' The Drop Wallet Larry Layback '

I take full credit, been doing it for decades - although 10' of balsa was a little hard to bring back around.

Good turn but a bit of a hail mary recovery.

He surfed way better in Puerto Rico 2010.

That turn was utter BS, I was gobsmacked when he rode out of it. Probably a 1 in a million fluke though, I can't imagine he could repeat that sort of critical turn regularly.

The big Hawaiian bloke in the legends heat, not Sunny, did a better turn. Wasn't as dramatic a finish.

Good fluke turn, however I found the other YouTube video of the guy taking on the Tiger Shark at Haleiwa far more entertaining. :-o

hmmm, just watched the PR video. Reynolds turns harder, and with more power, than the guys he was competing against. Nothing in there to rival the Haleiwa hack tho.

yes. Dane is the BEST high performance surfer at the moment. by far.

john john and Bruce are better at getting barrelled but Dane is a more powerful and spontaneous surfer than anyone presently.

makes Kelly's turns look like powderpuff

funny he gets a 7 for that and the judges are throwing out 10s like there going out of fashion for little air spinnies.

I've been shouted down before ... and its sure to happen again ... so in facing up to the inevitable ... lets take a look at Dane ... the messiah you may call him ... yet we all know that titles lame ... yes we know the kid is talented and pretends to have a brain ... but seriously we can't take him with that beat poetry hipster stance ... if he wants to walk the walk he must also dance the dance ... and at that the lad has failed ... no not just once or twice ... if the jury was still deciding ... that evidence would suffice ... he pretends to shun the limelight and to disdain the pro-surfing freak show ... but he's got nothing on the real deal ... just google Clay Marzo.
The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.
