ENE ground swells are best.

so quite clearly Spring 2010 was superior in every way.

and "swell over 2ft" is not a very specific measure.

Sydney hasn't had it's usual 3 week long "less than 1 ft" spell

Yeah I know Steve, but at this time of year, I'll take 2ft surf any day of the week!!!

don't mind them at all. being a lefty, i enjoy a bit northerly swell. there's a reef that likes it.
the other reef around here has to be due south, with no east in it at all. which means it's pretty much always a worthless waste of time.

south swells = close outs/limited options.

Thanks Alakaboo.. Previously carpark king but had log in issues..

Surely you can remember that 4 week flat speel from about mid August onwards, I surfed my single fin long board more than I ever remember.

And I love NE windswells as well, they provide way more quality and options across the Northern Beaches than many people know!

Human memory is not only incredibly subjective and short-sighted.....but notoriously unreliable.

Best Spring in living memory?

it was only two years ago. forgotten already?

Thats the point I was going to make. Spring started in Sydney after about the first week in August, not when the calendar said it did. Local had just developed a near all-time left hand bank and then the swell just stopped. Surf was hopeless for weeks and with temps in the low to mid 20s it sure felt like spring to me. Bank was long gone by the time the swell came back.

Last month or so have been passable with the odd good (not great) day but best in living memory? My memory must be different to yours.

I think the best in living memory call was a wind-up Lolo.

current ASCAT shows an E'ly dip SW of Grand Terre, with a developing area of broad tropical low pressure E of Vanautu.

Unfortunately this whole pattern slides away to the SE fairly quickly before any major swell generation.

should be worth 2-3ft of peaky E swell.

Yep, swell from tomorrow (locally generated peaky windswell up here in SE Qld/Nth NSW) with the better quality stuff coming later in the week/early next. Local winds gonna be the big x factor during this time. Agree with Steve, although I'd go a little more optimistic with 3ft+ later in the week, but long waits for these sets.

Fiji on the other hand!!!!
