Maybe it's my age but seeing a vid with carving and power and not a single air reverse was a refreshing change.

nothing of the kind.
mr occys wave used to surf at cronulla when i was a kid.
every wave that came through was "occys wave occys wave"
nothing limp dicked or tall poppy syndrome about it.
i dig his surfing. just the memories of that era remind me of my mates copying him going "occys wave occys wave" while paddling for any and every piece of wave coming through.
i guess you had to be there.
