Fcuk, boo, I knew what senescence was, but haiku has had me in the dictionary too. Not part of one, just reference to shit emanating from the mouths of some RSers
Wolves of the sea is a great doco. Was blown away by the guy who puts it all on the line for a beach attack. If I'm correct, no orca has ever been known to have killed a human outside the captive environment
A commercial fisho from Flinders swears he once watched a GW take a seal and then an orca immediately take both just off Seal Rocks on Phillip Island

Think you're right Vic. I have only heard of one bite in the wild, and it wasn't fatal.
Doesn't change my view at all.
Would believe the fisho too. I've heard similar things from tuna fisherman off Jervis Bay.
Great pics Ron.

Bunch of killers were off Terrigal yesterday. Came and shadowed a fishing boat before getting bored and leaving. We'll be seeing more and more of them.

I always got spooked when I surfed nearer to the jetty there Legion. The reef south of there with the resident seal that used to come and let you know he was there always felt that you were literally in the middle of the oceanLegion wrote:Wouldn't surprise me. There was a white the day after, about 30km away, bothering fishos at a local jetty. Might've paid dividends to drag it in. I'm back in the water, but I'm uncomfortable. Paddle out for the recent victim on Sunday. I'm tempted to pay my respects if I have time.alakaboo wrote:Spoke to someone in the know last week who thinks the same...and told the WA government the day before the last attack there was nothing they could do to limit attacks.fongss wrote:i think its the same KILLER SHARK in all the WA attacks
i did try warn everyone a while back
Sad to hear about this latest. I would be very very hesitant to surf there and the place where it happened if I was still there. What's the metro area been like? I have heard bits and pieces?

Re: Who'll be first....
I saw that there has been a lot of very cold nights there, makes senses that's it's so cold with no fronts. Would men that there would be a lot of sand on certain reefs as well? I believe the start to winter wasn't too bad though? What were the crowds like up there before the attack?

Did the new road add to the crowds like feared? Found a lot of the time people are too lazy to make the time effort? Seems like you are over due for a big August blow, the last year I was there had aslow July but wild August from memory.

Re: Who'll be first....
bloody hell its starting to be a bit sketchy surfing over here at the moment, seriously looking at the shark shield thingy but its fairly exy and unproven for surfers.
Never really been worried about sharks over here before but when they start eating people whole in a coupla bites it kinder of gets your imagination running wild at every splash and chop in the water.
anway gotta keep going and hope you don't get shat out of a GWS's date

Even on the East Coast we're becoming paranoid and console ourselves that South Africa is worse for shark attacks.
So, how many shark attacks have occurred in South Africa this year
