I guess what irked me about the story was that it conveyed this whole incredibly selfish perception that skydaddy, in his wisdom, chose to spare the life of a middle class, blue-eyed blonde teenager from a happy, well adjusted family, whilst simultaneously allowing unabated genocide to be perpetrated against dark skinned
I imagine the publishing was heavily church-backed, and the editing massaged accordingly.
