Are you for real? You joined RS in 2006 and still you need such advice. Unless you're very very young, you have not learned enough and should consider alternative recreational pursuits.

It's OK.
I'm sure you could try one of those south points before you buy.

Swvic, you joined in 2011 and you still don't know anything about posters? Time to find another forum.
If I remember correctly, Longyfreshy is a lady in her early 50s returning from a serious knee injury. Very keen but by her own admission not an expert on equipment.
Longyfreshy, what Steve said.
I don't like that construction in anything but very short boards, but the Southpoint ones are reasonable.
I think you could do better if you went to Aloha at Manly, or kept an eye on Gumtree.
I'd be more inclined to get something like the NSP from this ad in your situation:
http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Stuff-fo ... Z334388496
I'd guess it'd be just as good as the Southpoint, and you could pick up the rest of the gear and still have change.

It sounds okay to me with all the extras thrown in (what kind of bag is it though). Definitely try before you buy though.longyfreshy wrote:I am considering purchasing this board and wondering if it is a good deal?

I can't comment on the Southpoint boards but I used to ride an epoxy NSP back when I was getting into surfing again. It was a good board, very stable, easy to paddle, turned okay but it was obviously limited in comparison to a custom shaped one. If you're coming back from a knee op you'd be better going for a board like this as they are aimed at the more beginner skill levels so they're very forgiving.
The other side to them is that they are very tough. I never ding repaired my NSP once (even when it blew off the roof of my car doing 100km/h down the freeway!). I must have whacked it on a reef more times than I could count too.
The other plus is that they generally do hold their value (or at least they used to), if they aren't damaged a second-hand one is almost as good as a brand new one. You couldn't say the same about a fibre-glassed board with pressure dents, dings etc....

Sorry to you all - especially longyfreshy.

Cheap, easy to paddle, virtually indestructable. Sounds perfect for what you want to me.
When it gets to this level of self important stupidity I lose interest.

swvic, lived up to your perfect avatar again,.. classic
oh, um, a mate of mine, workmanlike surfer, no frills but reasonable ability, has a 9'2" NSP and loves it.
And something else longyfreshy, 500 is cheap if you use it, dear if you let it sit in the shed gathering cobwebs.

I reckon make sure its gunna be a good board for you more than worry bout the deal on the extras, money well spent if its the ideal board for you, but all those extras wont make it go better in the waves
Re: Is this a good surfboard deal?
for under 200 you could have a floater I have,
it's good for getting onto a wave.
No extras tho.

Re: Is this a good surfboard deal?
Hi Guys
Yeah I am not a regular poster and I come on occasionaly to ask for advice so have not seen posts on boards etc. Yes I am the 53 yr old female coming back from knee surgery and actually turning 54 in 2 months so time is running fast LOL!
The offer was from Dripping Wet the pittwater road one. I know alot of people are against epoxy boards. I have been going surfing about twice sometimes 3 times a week surfing down at Freshy specially when it is small better for me at the moment. Sometimes on my fish I am OK but other times not and with the water being still cold it doesn't help. I know alot here have said go alot bigger but I am afraid if I do I will never get back to a smaller board. Looking at this board it is the same width as mine a few inches bigger and more volume at the nose and very light. I was told it paddles really easy so I can get on the wave early so it gives me time to get up as I am in slow motion and still not that fit. I am only 5'4" and 51kg so need all the paddling help out in the line up with the crowd. If there is a 2nd hand option for the same size board or only a little bigger and cheaper then I am all for it.
I will check out the gumtree one.
Thanks for the advice hopefully in the future when I post something stupid I will be forgiven in my lack of knowledge. Oh and apology accepted swic.

Thanks for being so gracious and good luck with it all.
Perhaps, given my sincere contrition, alakaboo might think it ok for me to stay in the forum?

The one I have is a D.S.C.
from the south coast it's about 6'4 1/4 and 21" 1/4
suitable for when you want some help from the board

Que?
Why would I understand Daryl any better?
Longyfreshy, good reasoning, keep your eyes out for something a bit smaller if that's what you feel more comfortable with. Not sure you put your (lack of) size in the previous posts...
I sold a 6'10" epoxy board to a girl about your size, she loved it.
Swvic, you can stay. Though I don't know how I became the gatekeeper or Daryl's translator?
