I was reading about the Vegemite sponsored surfgroms program.

Seems that they have some classes coming up at the Bra. My youngfella has just turned 7 and I'm super keen to get him into surfing. I've been surfing for 25 years and I'm sure I can teach him but I was thinking that maybe he might be better in a surf school with other kids his age being coached a professional coach.
Anyone else have experience with this or the surfschool at the bra? Are the coaches good?

Well, they may be alright at teaching surfing, but if it's the regular mob then they can't read the surf very well. They're regularly sitting inside the outside bank and getting collected by the sets.adje wrote:Anyone else have experience with this or the surfschool at the bra? Are the coaches good?
I still say enrol them in the class, if only because you'll get some free time and they'll hang out with kids their own age.
Re: Teach or enroll my youngfella
Thanks guys. With Owen winning $300k in NY this week maybe there is a financial future in surfing. I'd rather be a poor surfer than have to play tennis for a living!
Re: Teach or enroll my youngfella
Yep and Sam won $1.3mil for her win in the tennis.
Your opinion is worth as much as it costs.

Who gives a shit about money.
Surfing does not have a dollar value.
The greatest gift a father can give a son is to teach him to surf.
You know surfing is good for the soul so imprint it on your son.
I can still remember the first time my father took me out into the surf at Avoca beach on one of those yellow rubber surf mats with the handles on the front, you hired them at the beach back in the 60's, I could not swim so I was scared of the ocean, but getting pushed onto a wave and holding on tightly to those handles all the way to shore was such a buzz , then my father would body surf in and take me back out then push me onto another wave.
Little did he know at the time that he was opening the door to surfing for me.
